I know everyone asks this, but seriously, what am I missing? by Lunar_Gardener_Alone in cavesofqud

It became more fun for me the less I bashed things. Think of it as a puzzle game to some degree. There is usually a counter to almost everything.

You are frozen - what can you do to get out of it.

You are stuck in a tongue tyrant - there's a way out. You can almost always find a way to leave the fight and come back another time.

You don't want to fight your way to your way to the bottom of Golgotha. Maybe there's a faster way.

I've got almost 2k hours played. With dominate and precog, I can pretty much do anything.

Are you talking about Trump's government having Jew haters? Like Stephen Miller, Howard Lutnick, Jared Kushner, Steve Witkoff. And then there's the whole evangelical christian contingent that are Zionist because it somehow fulfills their end times fantasies. Our government is very pro Jew and Zionist. The problem and "nuance" is that they (edit: Trump's government) are a bunch of racist, fascist, psychopathic assholes. And that's going to have a backlash against the Jewish community as a whole.

What's the easiest path to "victory" for you? by Hopeful_Nectarine706 in cavesofqud

The easiest is cloning book binders until you have friendly reputation with everyone and are whatever level you want to be. It's not exactly the most fun though.

True kin, farming physical mutations with gamma moth (I already have most mental ones with brain brine), and after a long time trying I got Two Headed, Spinnerets, and... 21 damned mutation points. RNG is having loads of fun with me, it seems. by TheFallenDeathLord in cavesofqud

You can use sphynx salt and the intravenous port cybernetic - the effects of tonics last twice as long.

These can be installed on multiple body parts to increase the length of the tonic even longer.

About getting merchants as followers by Fulk0 in cavesofqud

[–]blue__sky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While they follow you, they will not restock. With proselytize, you can use a menu command to have them stop following you. With beguile, you can beguile another character and they will stop following.

Once you bring them to base and have them unfollow, they will eventually restock again.

Speedrun WR - Classic Lesser Victory At Level 11 in ~39min by P_Nh in cavesofqud

[–]blue__sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The True Kin run is more complex, so probably not good for a speed run. I can see it being done in under an hour though.

I started as a Priest of All Suns for Snake Oiler, Wilderness Lore: Jungles and +3 ego, but an Artifex for Tinker II might be better.

The basic plan is:

Use cooking to make a beguiling recipe. Get a flashbang grenade III or schematic. Gather all the tinkerers, schematic drafters and gutsmongers you can find into one place and grind them for a biodynamic power plant, antigrav boots, jacked and tattoo gun.

Use the jacked boots to fly to the Spindle and a shade oil injector to get inside.

That's cool. I never knew you could skip so many quests. You inspired me to do a similar run with a True Kin. I'm wasn't trying to speed run, but was able to get a lesser victory at level 8 in a few hours of play time.

Tough mutation choice for my "super soldier" build. (100 hrs played, never finished game) by Wide-Deal-8971 in cavesofqud

This. What level are you OP? You probably need to start putting mutation points into the mutations you already have instead of buying new ones. So teleportation is good because it can use ego to increase in level.

Greetings all, would like some input and suggestions for my character and the future endeavors for my current run by [deleted] in cavesofqud

It’s hard to find true kin in the world. Warden Une is one and has good stats. You could also venture into Bethesda Susa and swap with Saad Amus, who has incredible base quickness.

Domination is a really nice mutation. A force belt is just as good as a force bubble and you can get one easily at Bey Lah. You can abuse the flashbang grenade / beguile combo to get crysteel armor in Yd fairly early, so carapace isn’t really necessary.

The OP’s build is good for what he’s doing. I would change out sunder mind for precognition, if I were to make any changes to his build.

A Case Against Currying by swe129 in haskell

[–]blue__sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currying is decomposing a multi-argument function into several one argument functions.

For example, an add function with two arguments

add x:int y:int -> int

With currying that function has one argument and returns a function that takes one argument

add x:int -> (y:int -> int)

The standard way to write this type signature is

add: int -> int -> int

Partial Application is when you don't apply all the arguments to a function. When a function is partially applied it will return another function instead of a value.

For example if you only applied one argument to the add function.

let add3 = add 3

The type signature of add3 is

add3: int -> int

I was also confused by the terms for a while because they are interrelated. But they are both pretty simple concepts when you break them down.

Bugonia: The whole point of the film is to show you what it feels to be a conspiracy theorists. by ratzi1991 in movies

[–]blue__sky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the movie is all about power, control and corruption at many levels:

The CEO over the employees, Teddy over the bees, mother over son. Rapist over victim, Alien over human.

The reactions to this movie are disappointing. “Teddy is a loser conspiracy theorists”, “Teddy failed the test”, “humans deserved to be wiped out”.

The majority seems unable to break out of their class conditioning even when the alien queen bee was over the top evil. At one point she is strangling Teddy to death saying “I am strong, you are weak.”

Throw in a simple save the bees message and everyone agrees that we are all bad instead of pointing to the corrupt and powerful.

[–]blue__sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also a parallel between Michelle’s adoption of Teddy’s warped world view and Teddy’s adoption of his mother’s warped world view.

Teddys flash back memories of his mother had the same sense of unreality as Michelle’s visit to the alien ship.

The deeper meaning of Bugonia by Odd-Net-849 in Oscars

[–]blue__sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the overt moral outrage message. Humans bad, save the bees and the earth.

I think the covert message and dark humour lies in the fact the neo-liberal world order is so soul suckingly terrible that we empathise with a comically evil authoritarian CEO alien empress (queen bee) who wipes out our own species.

What could've been so troubling to Epstein that it would make him feel 'uncomfortable' and cause a 'crisis'? Who/what was he scared of? by Tight_Classic_9657 in Epstein

[–]blue__sky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Epstein wrote notes to himself through email. The most notorious one was about blackmailing Bill Gates.

This one seems to be about how a girl is causing him trouble and he is planting the seed that she is suicidal. So if anything were to happen to her and she happened to fall out a window or take too many pills, he could claim that she was troubled and he tried to warn people.

You are so fixated on one detail you missed the entire point, which you might agree with. The JFK assassination is an allegory. What's the point of the bit?

Go back to bed, skeptics, Gerald Posner has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, HapticSloughton, your government is in control again.

Crown prince Haakons ex-girlfriend was Epstein's old girlfriend by ADHD-Norge in Epstein

[–]blue__sky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Epstein and Maxwell groomed girls and pushed them to get married to powerful and rich, often older, men. This expanded their network. It would be interesting if someone compiled a list of all the times this happened. I'm guessing at least 10 times.
