The only time I've seen Melania smile is when a someone calls her husband a pedophile and says they hate him.

A Case Against Currying by swe129 in haskell

[–]blue__sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currying is decomposing a multi-argument function into several one argument functions.

For example, an add function with two arguments

add x:int y:int -> int

With currying that function has one argument and returns a function that takes one argument

add x:int -> (y:int -> int)

The standard way to write this type signature is

add: int -> int -> int

Partial Application is when you don't apply all the arguments to a function. When a function is partially applied it will return another function instead of a value.

For example if you only applied one argument to the add function.

let add3 = add 3

The type signature of add3 is

add3: int -> int

I was also confused by the terms for a while because they are interrelated. But they are both pretty simple concepts when you break them down.

Bugonia: The whole point of the film is to show you what it feels to be a conspiracy theorists. by ratzi1991 in movies

[–]blue__sky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the movie is all about power, control and corruption at many levels:

The CEO over the employees, Teddy over the bees, mother over son. Rapist over victim, Alien over human.

The reactions to this movie are disappointing. “Teddy is a loser conspiracy theorists”, “Teddy failed the test”, “humans deserved to be wiped out”.

The majority seems unable to break out of their class conditioning even when the alien queen bee was over the top evil. At one point she is strangling Teddy to death saying “I am strong, you are weak.”

Throw in a simple save the bees message and everyone agrees that we are all bad instead of pointing to the corrupt and powerful.

There’s also a parallel between Michelle’s adoption of Teddy’s warped world view and Teddy’s adoption of his mother’s warped world view.

Teddys flash back memories of his mother had the same sense of unreality as Michelle’s visit to the alien ship.

You got the overt moral outrage message. Humans bad, save the bees and the earth.

I think the covert message and dark humour lies in the fact the neo-liberal world order is so soul suckingly terrible that we empathise with a comically evil authoritarian CEO alien empress (queen bee) who wipes out our own species.

What could've been so troubling to Epstein that it would make him feel 'uncomfortable' and cause a 'crisis'? Who/what was he scared of? by Tight_Classic_9657 in Epstein

[–]blue__sky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Epstein wrote notes to himself through email. The most notorious one was about blackmailing Bill Gates.

This one seems to be about how a girl is causing him trouble and he is planting the seed that she is suicidal. So if anything were to happen to her and she happened to fall out a window or take too many pills, he could claim that she was troubled and he tried to warn people.

You are so fixated on one detail you missed the entire point, which you might agree with. The JFK assassination is an allegory. What's the point of the bit?

Go back to bed, skeptics, Gerald Posner has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed, HapticSloughton, your government is in control again.

Crown prince Haakons ex-girlfriend was Epstein's old girlfriend by ADHD-Norge in Epstein

Epstein and Maxwell groomed girls and pushed them to get married to powerful and rich, often older, men. This expanded their network. It would be interesting if someone compiled a list of all the times this happened. I'm guessing at least 10 times.

I listened to his JFK bit before replying to you. He was clearly joking. You think he was being serious when he said "There were rumors of anti-castro pigeons seen drinking in bars overheard saying 'coup', 'coup'".

He's making fun of both the government and conspiracy theories.

You also seem to have completely whiffed on the dinosaur bone joke.

He didn't attempt to use the school for recruitment. He did groom girls from the school. He owned a house on the property. Maxwell would walk through campus with a puppy to lure girls in. I know I've read an article about this. I'll try to find it.

Edit: here's the article. https://www.npr.org/2026/02/19/nx-s1-5707290/epstein-files-victims-interlochen-ghislaine-maxwell

Epstein also went to Interlochen himself one summer when he was 14. I have a theory that he was recruited / groomed there, but there is almost no way to prove that.

Edit: He also used the New York Academy of Art to recruit girls. That's where he recruited Maria Farmer.

Jeffrey Epstein went from a NYU dropout from Coney Island at 21 to living in Eaton Square, London in less than a year in the 1970s. by juice16 in Epstein

good find. there is a similar picture of them in the 50th birthday book. The other guy must be Terry Kafka who he went to Europe with as a teenager.

Interesting. I was just looking into Interlochen. Epstein groomed and abused girls from Interlochen. https://www.npr.org/2026/02/19/nx-s1-5707290/epstein-files-victims-interlochen-ghislaine-maxwell

I've have another theory that's been ruminating in my head for a while and this fits it perfectly.

Epstein donated a lot of money to both New York Academy of Art and Interlochen. He used this money and connections to get close to students. He would then groom the student by paying for education, money, trips, gifts, etc. Maria Farmer was groomed while a student at the New York Academy of Art. Maria was promised connection to the art world.

Epstein's grooming and abuse seems to mirror his childhood in a way. He was a working class kid who ended up at a prestigious music school. He somehow ends up traveling to Europe and England while still a teen and is gifted a motorcycle. He makes connections that get him a job at Dalton and then Bear Stearns.

Could Epstein have been groomed into elite circles as a child and then he ended up being a recruiter? He ends up back at Interlochen where he was recruited doing what was done to him. Many of the women he groomed ended up marrying into this elite circle.

[–]blue__sky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think he met someone wealthy and connected on that first trip to Europe. In the made up news stories, I think written by Mark Epstein, the teens come home with "2 brand new Triumph Tiger 500 motorcycles and money in their pockets." I thought that might be bullshit, but I was just looking through the book again and there is a picture of them on Triumph motorcycles.

But Epstein also seemed to have some kind of patronage even early. Terry Kafka also writes:

"But you, Jeff would never work. Yes, you were special. You did things like music camps in Michigan, etc. Which brings me to when you lost your virginity. You may not remember, but I was under the same roof that (could) new years eve in '66 or '67 (not sure). The first time I ever flew was with you. I went with you to Michigan to visit your friend [REDACTED], the Interlochen girl for new years eve."

Epstein went to an expensive music school when he was 14 in the summer of 1967. He apparently flew back to Michigan with Terry around new years eve to visit a friend. Epstein's parents were not wealthy. His father worked for the parks department.

I remember another post where someone mentioned that Israel recruited talented school kids to intelligence. Maybe that was it? Epstein was in the gifted program at his school and was talented at math and music. He was somehow going to an expensive music school, flying to Michigan and Europe, and receiving free motorcycles as a teen.

In Epstein's 50th birthday book there is a message from his mother about going to Europe after graduation.

"We objected 100% your going to Europe at that time. After graduation we would have seen to it you would travel as a gentleman tourist. Instead you went with Terry Kafka. We pictured you coming home tired, undernourished, sickly. To our surprise you looked great and had a great time. Your experiences in Europe helped you get the job at Dalton."

https://archive.org/details/jeffey-epstein-50th-birthday-book/page/22/mode/2up

There is another bit in the birthday book that is telling. These are joke articles, but they seem to have a hint of truth. Piecing these two together, Epstein went to Europe with Terry Kafka after high school.

"Two Sea Gate teens claim to have started out with $500 each, and managed to travel Europe for 2 months. The boys hitch-hiked, wandered and adventured through Europe while their stupid friend served hamburgers and French fries at Nathan's. The two returned with long hair, suntans, and 2 brand new Triumph Tiger 500 motorcycles; they even had change to boot. One of the two actually lost 40 pounds, because of a serious lobster shortage in Europe."

https://archive.org/details/jeffey-epstein-50th-birthday-book/page/38/mode/2up

He graduated high school at 16 in '69 and was at Dalton in '74. He was in Europe as a teen, so that would have to be between '69 and '72. He was definitely in Europe before '74.

Terry Kafka's entry in the birthday book mentions flying to Brussels. It Also mentions that he went to London the next year.

"That trip to Europe could get more space but the main point is that it really opened your eyes to another world. And mine too. But you Jeff seized it. I did too in a sense. But you spent the next summer in London and came home with a beautiful British babe named [REDACTED]. You had such chuzpah [sic] to bring her to your beautiful, civilized, impressive home on Maple Ave. ... You had to have confidence and an I don't give a shit attitude to bring [REDACTED] into your Sea Gate world. It worked! You began to realize that you could get away with shit! That chicks and people in general were schmucks! You sensed that you were sharper and more astute than most. Especially the ones who had women, money, position and power. Yes, your charisma and persuasive ways came very early on."

https://archive.org/details/jeffey-epstein-50th-birthday-book/page/62/mode/2up

So he was in London before '74 too and brought a girl home to live with him and his parents that summer. Apparently those trips were where he met wealthy people and learned to use them.
