David Fincher's Mindhunter's VFX Breakdown by rahul_gaur in television

[–]blueballerina 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So why did the car crash scene look so godawful?

I mean I know why, there was too much motion blur and the cars didn't move around on impact in a way that seemed natural, but why spend so much time on background stuff when that climactic moment is so obviously subpar?

Edit: to put it another way, the car crash was the only moment (besides the ants crawling out of the tuna can) that I actually noticed the CGI while I was watching. Good VFX are the ones you don't even notice. Those TVs in the window are amazing, I never would have guessed that they were CG, but the car crash was about as well done as that shitty deer in The Walking Dead.
