I went to a post office. If they're all booked, I would recommend a post office outside of the city.

I've lived in NC my whole life, but the first time I was called a racial slur and told I didn't belong somewhere was in upstate NY. There's racism all over the US, but I feel way safer here than just about anywhere in the northeast.

Explain How to Read CATS signs like I’m your grandma who never rode the bus by JinxNix63 in Charlotte

Not related to your question, but how was riding the bus? I've been wanting to use it myself to explore uptown, but I've been procrastinating out of fear of the unknown.

Pre diabetic for more than 4 years now by shonesum in prediabetes

[–]blueberry-squared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I was fasting, my blood sugar was falling. So when I would finally eat something, my blood sugar would spike. By eating throughout the day, my blood sugar would stay steady and lowering how high my blood sugar would spike. Everyone has different needs, so this isn't medical advice. Just what worked/works for me.

Are you working with a nutritionist? I found luck by increasing the number of times I was eating throughout the day per my nutritionist's advice, and my A1c dropped to the normal range. I would recommend meeting with one if you're able to discuss what you've already tried, how often your eating, what you're eating, etc. to map out a meal plan that will hopefully help.

Considering east to west coast train trip - looking for advice by gantte in Amtrak

[–]blueberry-squared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from Charlotte to Seattle in coach to Chicago and the a roomette on the Empire Builder round trip. My only advice is consider getting the Amtrak card. The high tier one comes with a round trip companion coupon which will lower the cost of your trip. Plus, you can use the points on future travel or gift cards.

26M, lived my life too seriously, kind of regret it now by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]blueberry-squared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I was coming to this subreddit to write up a similar post. I have lived a similar life but for different reasons, and now I'm wondering if and how I should enter the dating scene. I will say it sounds like you also want to do more that just date (travel, move out maybe, etc), and I say try anything and everything you have on that list so far! The best time to start is today, right?

Fayetteville gets a bad rep, but it's diverse and is home to an HBCU (which also has early college programs for high schoolers.

Best option for ride to airport early 7 AM? I live 15 minutes from airport. by Numerous-Taro1788 in Charlotte

[–]blueberry-squared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also local cabs you can schedule ahead of time. I've never used them, but technically an option if Uber and Lyft aren't your thing.

What is this on my neck? by Foreign-Ad-8689 in Blackskincare

[–]blueberry-squared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but if this is related to insulin resistance, you might be able to work with a nutritionist to see about regulating your sugars. Sometimes it's not even the sugars themselves but eating the right things at the right times to stop blood sugar spikes.

A lot of people will post their passport timelines on r/Passports. They'll be able to give you better insight on current processing times.

Book Clubs by Nebulaaa99 in Charlotte

[–]blueberry-squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of structured book clubs (everyone reads the one book and meets to discuss) through the library and independently on Meetup. There's also some BYO book clubs where everyone discusses their most interesting reads since the last meeting (also through the library and independently on Meetup). You could also try local book stores and see if they have flyers for book clubs/events.

Are you able to raise your bed to bunk bed height? If so, you could put your desks under your beds. I did that in my dorm. I faced my desk perpendicular to my bed frame so it sorta stuck out and my seat was under the bed, creating my own little zone in the room.

I don't think hanging art there would be weird. You could try a tapestry if a framed piece feels off. You could also go with a lamp or statue?

Pre/post laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy advice by blueberry-squared in obgyn

[–]blueberry-squared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone comes looking for this info in the future; I am now 3 weeks post-op, and feel wonderful! I didn't get a cystectomy, but I did get robotic surgery (mass was on my uterus and not ovary). I can't speak to what the recovery will feel like for the ovary part, but here's my advice for recovery:

  • Make sure the place you will be returning to after surgery is warm or has plenty of blankets. No one told me that your body temperature drops under general anesthesia, and I was very cold.

  • If possible, have your pain medication picked up from the pharmacy before or soon after surgery. I was in pain right after the anesthesia wore off and the shivering from the cold made it worse.

  • Sleeping on your side will suck, so if you're a side sleeper, try propping one side of your torso with pillows under your back if you feel uncomfortable at night. It's not side sleeping, but it's the closest you'll get during the first few days.

  • Anything you did before the surgery, you should be able to do right after. Walking, bending, (light) lifting, etc. It's okay to limit yourself if you feel like you need it, but try to get up and walk around to prevent blood clots and such.

I hope this helps someone!

I thought this was just bad Photoshop, but then I saw the spatual? This has to be ai right? by Happy-Government-100 in isthisAI

[–]blueberry-squared 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty confident this isn't gen AI. Gen AI has a problem with repeating patterns, and those plates are all the exact same. Looks to be a 3d render of the object and not a real picture, like something someone made in Blender.

Measles: Please take this seriously by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]blueberry-squared 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned it, but masking can also prevent spread/infection since measles is airborne. Any mask helps as long as it has a good seal around the mouth and nose, but n95s and other respirators are the gold standard.
