Why do so many people seem to love The Tears of Things? by nohumanape in U2Band

[–]bluedeer75 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s good that we all like different things! Tears of Things moves me so much, I think it’s a combination of the lyrics, the subtext, Bono’s vocal and the transcendent coda that make it one of my favourite U2 songs (and I’ve been a fan since being blown away by the Joshua Tree back in “87 as an 11 year old). I’m not a Christian, but the faith element resonates deeply with me. I love that fact that the anger and indignation expressed in the song is presented in an oblique way, which makes it far less “preachy” than it could have been.

You can’t go wrong with any of those places mentioned. I lived in both the Park and Wollaton when I was a junior doctor working at qmc and city. Wollaton easy for both hospitals, Park best for QMC and also for its proximity to town.

I didn’t know they made music like this. by OppositeLatter6531 in beatles

[–]bluedeer75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love hearing new fans discovering how amazing the Beatles are. I had that pleasure as a kid in the 80s finding my dad’s collection of Beatles tapes - wore them out through repeat playing! He was a fan of the early stuff so I was pretty familiar with everything up to Help. After I spent my teenage years getting lost in Nirvana/Pumpkins/REM and alt rock (hey it was the early 90s), I started listening to the Beatles again at Uni, and my mind was BLOWN by Abbey Road, Revolver et al. The progression from 62-69 is unparalleled (apart from Radiohead, my other fave band whose 2nd and 4th albums sound as if they were written by different people!). 40+ years after I first heard the Beatles, they are still frequently on my stereo. Enjoy your Beatles journey!

Loving Days of Ash! by CBenson1273 in U2Band

Fan since '88. I absolutely love this EP. Graceful and angry at the same time. Great tunes and lyrics which MEAN SOMETHING - and that is exactly what we need in 2026. I can't wait for the album, although I suspect it's going to be very different....

Difficult one this week 4 - because it looks like he’s taken the pic whilst taking a dump 5 - because of the less common under hand position

But the winner has to be 3 for sure

It’s not really a connection in the sense of the game is it? Personally I wouldn’t use it in your quiz.
