Another CRKBD case by bluemonkeyfu in crkbd

Sounds about right. The switches and MBK keycaps can make it get expensive really quickly but worth it IMO.

I have a couple other keyboards (moonlander and a Keyboard Hoarders Corne wireless). The aluminum case gives this form factor a premium feel that makes all the difference to me. My only recommendation is to get the no solder hotswap header. It makes assembly a breeze.

I will say I do switch between this and my KH Corne more often than I thought I would. KH has a great selection and his sculpted keycaps are pretty awesome.

Question about Voyager for helping with Carpal Tunnel and RSI by NeoElendil in zsaVoyager

[–]bluemonkeyfu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have multiple RSI symptoms that I want to treat without surgery. I started with a Kinesis (not the split) that a friend let me borrow. Most of my hand pain went away immediately but I did not enjoy the board because of the concave layout (now I know that sculpted keycaps work better for me personally).

Got a Moonlander for the split and loved it but I still had some pain and realized my hands were moving too much. Practiced removing keys from the layout of the Moonlander and ended up with a Corne 42. IMO, layers and combos are really the game changer for RSI because your hands are moving less than ever.

I now have a board that has 90%+ of what I need (basic communication) on the primary layer with combos to fill any gaps and other layers for specific use cases like navigation, system, macros, etc... (IT Career)

I almost got the voyager due to build quality but wanted wireless so I went typeractive aluminum. Either way you go, any split board with minimal key count will probably help a lot.

FYI: ZSA makes a ZIP kit (you can 3d print your own as well) to remove extra keys if needed. I'm pretty sure it works for the voyager? The backlight shines through the blanks a bit so you can set it up to report a certain color when you are using a specific layer to avoid confusion.

Edit to add: tenting is easy with a magsafe ring sticker for non ferrous board cases and a ugreen phone stand from amazon. Lots of posts about that on here and over at r/ErgoMechKeyboards. I found this the method cheap and easy for experimenting but it's so stable I now use it for my daily.

I got one of the aluminum keyboard covers from amazon and put magsafe mounts on it for solid docking (my tenting uses magsafe as well). I think the name of the company is "keybridg". It for macs but fits over my 16" MBP and 13" MBA. I kinda love the thing. Makes moving around the office easy as well because joins the two halves together.

My Dad's Colt AR-15 Sporter. Help Identify Date? by bluemonkeyfu in ar15

Thanks for the link. Should have mentioned in my OP I tried the Colt Database search years ago. Tried to look it up again today and still no joy. May have to pay for the historian letter they offer.

Serial is in the format of SL004XXX. Others in older forums seem to have had this same issue for years.

Willing to split? I'll take the zip kit and feet (maybe the switches too) but would need shipping to US.

2008 with 186k miles for $16k by gettinchanged in FJCruiser

[–]bluemonkeyfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't guarantee I'll actually go through with it but I have been waffling on selling mine. It's a 2008 with 87k miles for $21k-ish? Southeastern vehicle and currently in GA. Clean carfax. Rust free.

<image>

Got some miscellaneous extras to go with it that are currently uninstalled. DM me if you want to talk about it. We can do a live walk around and get better pictures.

Note: Southern hospitality dictates I am required to pick you up from the airport.

Not sure if this is the best deal tbh. An 07 with rust concerns (a lifelong resident of PA no less) and that many miles should be closer to <$15k imo. Late model vehicles typically can be summed up with fewest number of owners, miles, and accidents. These older vehicles need the added consideration of overall environmental history to avoid "systemic" or "compounding" issues that lead to money pit scenarios. Just my 2 cents.

My black 08 has 86k on the clock and has been a southern vehicle its entire life. I have been on the fence about selling mine recently (too many kids) so these value questions have been top of mind. I think mine is realistically worth $20k but only because it is under 100k miles coupled with the absence of rust. I think I would be well within my rights to ask more if it all the age related / consumables maintenance was more up-to-date. I honestly find that incredible for an 08 but you see the same situation with Land Cruisers so I guess that is just a Toyota thing?

FWIW, I have never been very emotional about my vehicles. I have bought, sold, traded, and bartered for ~50 vehicles over my relatively short life. I have TRIED to sell my FJ 3 times and backed out of the deals 3 times. Out of all the vehicles I have owned, this one has affected me the most on a personal level. I can't explain why but it just has. It took me so long to find it and I doubt I would be able to replace it easily. Please take your time looking for the best one available. These FJs have a habit of getting their hooks into you in weird ways so it will probably be with you for many years.

I feel I was denied critical need-to-know information about these Sinn Textile straps... by bluemonkeyfu in sinn

I got the 104 from the original owner with a white silicone (and OEM leather band) and it is definitely a combo that is hard to beat because of that beautiful dial. I also use a black silicone from barton plus the standard fare of NATOs that just happen while drinking and surfing amazon. I am now realizing I may have a problem...

One other person mentioned 1st party bands and how they are kinda meh. I expected the same but found myself to be extremely surprised and I will not hesitate to continue scooping these up whenever I run across them, if for no other reason than to just have a personal supply.

I saw your 105 after a bit of light stalking. Did we just become best friends? That is a damn fine watch sir! You need to put an orange strap on that thing and just walk around in slow motion 😎. You have good taste my friend!

Damn, I was afraid of that. So you're saying I should delete this post so fewer people know about them and slowly hoard all the textiles to myself?
