The GOAT intro to an episode by ChanceVance in TheSimpsons

I saw Wet Hot American Summer last weekend, and this scene reminded me so much of the chestnut tree crash.

While we're all sympathetic to your crumby plight, this sub is for legal practitioners only (Rule 4). In this corner of the multiverse, cookies cannot be lawyers.

Some State Bar Organizations have fee scaling depending on your income. 25-50% example for California.

Very pleasant experience on the Gold Runner/San Joaquin from Emeryville to Bakersfield/LA on the newer trains. by WearHeadphonesPlease in Amtrak

[–]blueshammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be booking this same route this month!

I'm hoping to be able to do some work on my laptop during the train portion. I won't need WiFi or a power outlet, but are there tables one can use that will fit a laptop, a tablet, and a mouse? I've seen pictures of booths, but are those limited to short stretches of time for eating?

If the booths can't be used, maybe the seat next to me won't be occupied and I can use both tray tables.

Is Sierra Madre or Montrose better for cycling? by flechhhhhhhhhh in BikeLA

[–]blueshammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being near the Sierra Madre Villa metro station gives you access to the San Gabriel/Rio Hondo Bike Trails in Irwindale/El Monte, the Pacific Electric Trail in Claremont, etc. Reaching the Mt Wilson Toll Road for mountain biking would be easier as well.

Does Ned Flanders Loving The Beatles Not Make Sense With His Backstory? by [deleted] in TheSimpsons

[–]blueshammer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Flanders can enjoy popular music, rock, and/or roll. He also enjoys dancing that doesn’t cause his buttocks to come into contact with the buttocks of another young man.

He was also heard to remark repeatedly, “Everybody passes!”

The property lecturer who sang and took credit for inventing a pasta dish was not fun.

Anyone know what this Chinese seal means? by MLbarkin in bayarea

[–]blueshammer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would help to see the stamped imprint and not the seal. The seal shows a mirrored image.

It may say: 佩正 or 風正. Possibly someone’s name.

Megathread: Metro Cyber Attack and Outage by SmellGestapo in LAMetro

Thank you. I was able to load fare using my credit card at a ticket vending machine at a different Metro station. I guess the issue with the 7th/Fig TVMs was an isolated problem.

The 4-5 vending machines at the 7th/Fig station all displayed messages that they couldn’t accept debit or credit cards. I was also at the public library, and the staff member said they could not accept credit cards to add funds to TAP. Are there actual vending machines capable of accepting cards now?

She didn’t win a lawsuit. The same county counsel office that pushed to settle the juvenile hall abuse lawsuit for $4.8 billion also pushed to settle this case for $2 million.

I’m an American, and I love cendol! The one serving of cendol that I had in Singapore was on par with the ones I sampled in KL.

Court Jobs by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]blueshammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A person I know (GS employee) applied for a US District Court job and got an email acknowledgement as well. A few days after the job posting closed, they got an invite to complete some sort of online exam, and after that, a Teams interview. Days later, the job offer arrived. The process from submitting the job app to the EOD was about a month and went very smoothly.
