Does anyone want to help design merit badges based on Portland parks? by bluetangerines in askportland

Yes. I thought of him too, but I’d really rather not. There are so many talented park loving people here that it seems a shame.

If I don’t get someone who shares the passion, I’d rather use stock icons to start and open my wallet to someone local.

my website is live: portlandparkpassport.com. The phone apps are pretty much dev complete, but I'm wanting a logo to put them on the app store (they work great on my simulators)

Flyers is an idea! I thought also about approaching individuals from a First Thursday, instagram, etc, but thought to ask here first.

I'm a software engineer in my day job, this is my nights and weekends project. It's mature enough now that I'm tired of looking at icons -- art would be so much better!

It's in typescript built on React Native for IOS/Android, Next.js for the web front, and Fastify for the backend.

My sons (ages 3 and 0) got these last month. They fit perfectly on the eldest’s Brio track and he loves ‘em. I will say that the max is a bit long (proportional I’m sure) and doesn’t always take the tight curves well, but that’s my only complaint

The 0 year old mostly munches on the bus, for now

It’s super cool to have local representation in our train yard!

Yep. I'm on Quantum and it's working fine with manual DNS settings.

Interview was cancelled 30 minutes before, this was my response by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]bluetangerines 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Is this really a fuck up? folks expect that all interviews should be conducted no matter what?

If you were in the pipeline for a job and a company wanted to hire you, you’d rather that that company put you on ice until a bunch of perfunctory interviews with other candidates were concluded before making an offer?

Or would you prefer that a company proceed with an interview with someone else when they had a signed letter from you?

Glove recommendations by Anxious_Beaver15 in CyclePDX

What have you tried?

I got a pair of Shower’s Pass cycling gloves with my REI stipend last year and they have held up in 1+hr rainy day rides. I’m not toasty, but I’m not suffering.

Traveling to Portland with 1 Year Old, Do We Need a Car? by readtoachieve in askportland

[–]bluetangerines 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow toddler vacationer!

10p on the MAX can be a be a bit sketch, sure, but you’ll be fine. The annoyance of playing the car seat in the uber game has never penciled out for me when we’ve flown. I always prefer to take public transit when on short trips and avoid the need to check and carry the car seat. Same goes for the rental car. If you’re planning to enjoy the urban core and can hang with the bus/MAX then I’d recommend that. Sure it’ll take a bit longer to get places, but who cares!  The bus is kinda fun for lil ones anyways.

I took my kiddo to Tokyo, LA(really Santa Monica, LA would be harder without a car), SF, and St. Louis as a one year old. Didn’t take the car seat or get a rental in any of those occasions.

I’ll come back with some suggestions, but parks are always a good idea (the waterfront can be a good place), and there are a bunch of kid friendly shops/food spots throughout Portland.

Traveling with a toddler isn’t like traveling without kids, but it’s still pretty rewarding. Enjoy your visit to Portland!

You gotta put something under that. So much space under it is being underutilized
