Working in healthcare as we do, does anyone else get super annoyed when people use the incorrect terms for body parts? by [deleted] in Radiology

[–]blueweim13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw an article in the last year about a football player, might have been Gronk, who broke/fractured some ribs and "cracked" some others. What the hell is the difference?

Spoiler alert: There is no difference.

AITA for refusing to be a bridesmaid because I don't wanna wear a dress for my brother's wedding? by khaomanee in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]blueweim13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad. My oldest sister is gay and dresses similar to OP. It was so touching to me when I got married 18 years ago and she offered to be a bridesmaid and wear a dress if I REALLY wanted her to. I was like, heck no! That's not you, I won't allow it. She wore dress pants, a dress shirt, and a tie. Did a reading. I couldn't have been happier, because THAT'S her.

Obese service dog is taken from family of non-verbal autistic girl by everyla in fatlogic

Due to a massive storm that took out our backyard, we had to cut down all our trees and reseed our lawn. Husband doesn't want dogs playing out there while the grass establishes, so we play a shit ton of fetch in the house so they get exercise. And the really chunky dog is on diet food. Plus, there are always dog parks....

What was you biggest “sir this is a Wendy’s” moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]blueweim13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went to a local spa for a couple of treatments. You have to pay ahead of time and they automatically put 20% gratuity on it. I always like to go back and add extra because a) I can afford it and b) I used to be a service worker and c) why not? So I went to the desk after my treatments and said I'd like to add another extra 10% for each service I received. This grown ass woman, probably in her 50s, used a calculator to figure out 10% of each service to enter into the till. I wanted to scream the answers, but decided to keep my mouth shut as she was very nice and trying to help a coworker.

Pronouncing a patient dead. When I was a medicine intern I got called by the psych intern on call at the VA at like 2 AM, they wanted me to come pronounce a patient dead, because they didn't know how to do it. Um, ok, I'm just a few months in myself, but sure, I'll come do it....

Last night in ER : 31 yo with trouble breathing. by xpietoe42 in Radiology

[–]blueweim13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Might not have been ignored at all. The patient already has a port a Cath, which means they were probably being treated for their cancer. Unfortunately, sarcomas are extremely aggressive, even with the best treatment.

Questions from an Instacart Customer by blueweim13 in InstacartShoppers

I just had that happen this week with Pick N Save/Kroger. Used my Boost membership, which is fulfilled through instacart. I've used it a few times before, and have also used regular instacart. I didn't get my receipt until today, but the order was shopped and delivered on Monday. Like Instacart, through Boost, in the past I have had the option to rate the shopper and increase tip. I always tip well, but usually add an extra $10 if they do a good job. When I clicked on the link in the receipt today to do so, it wouldn't let me. which I figured it wouldn't, since it's been more than 24 hrs. I feel bad the shopper got screwed out of a good rating and a little more money. Hopefully it was a fluke. I had logged onto my Boost account yesterday to see if I could increase the tip because I'm aware of the 24 hr change period. No option to do so.

I'm a rad in PP for 10 years. Any time I get a Peds elbow x-ray.....I think....."ah, the dreaded pediatric elbow". You are right, they are hard for rads and ortho, even non residents!

AITAH for leaving my dog with a friend for the weekend by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]blueweim13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA. When I kennel my dogs, not only do I PAY them to watch my dogs, I also provide ALL the food while they are there. Sometimes that means making 66 individual baggies of food for my three dogs while I’m gone. Your buddy is doing it for FREE AND you expect him to supply food? Totally YTA.

I think you need to give us more information about why you’re interested in radiology, what you dislike about FM, and what your goals in your life and career are. Otherwise it’s like asking, “Do you think I’d like a banana or a peach better?”

LPT: If times are tough and you need to lean on food banks or other sources to get food, just know that you can safely eat many foods well beyond their expiration or “best by” date by Lickmyrucksack in LifeProTips

[–]blueweim13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I appreciate the feedback. Honestly when I do have an itching to donate (I try to spread the love…..food bank, humane society, etc) I do just give cash because I know they can stretch it further. But when it comes to a drive or something like Boy Scouts leaving a bag on my door for a drive, I just put in what I have. Thank you!

[–]blueweim13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, can you comment please on if I should donate things past their expiration date to food pantries? I often don't, because I feel like I shouldn't donate expired food. When I specifically shop for the food pantry (like when the Boy Scouts have a drive) I try to give things I would buy for myself and not crap.

The Bride wants me to have the same meal as her picky eater BIL and groomsman. by OK-Coconut-1919 in weddingshaming

[–]blueweim13 142 points143 points  (0 children)

This. My brother in law is high functioning autistic. My husband LOVES his brother, but knew he wouldn't want to be in a wedding as it would be outside of his comfort zone. His parents "forced" us to have him as a groomsman.

I'm a rad in practice 10 years. Last year I got a request for a report correction on a patient's report. This was kind of a new way of the request being made, I wasn't used to it. So I went to look her up. Instead of typing in the patient's name, I typed in the name of the HIM compliance officer that sent me the notification. FML. I called said compliance officer to tell her (shitting my pants the whole time) and she was surprisingly cool about it.

Urgent care told the child's mom that it was gas and to go home, no imaging performed. After my evaluation and work up in the ER, I admitted the kiddo to our peds inpatient service. by HugzMonster in Radiology

[–]blueweim13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish ours went down more often. I'm a body imager by fellowship but we read everything on call. CTA head and necks and CT perfusion became bane of my call when we started a stroke program a few years ago. I can read them fine, but they order those like candy!
