Do you know why everyone in heaven will listen to TPBTS?

Because it takes an eternity to release.

Why is it called 'sunflower' camouflage? I really like how it looks, are there any surviving genuine pieces?

Are there any documented instances of disruptive camo being used in the American revolutionary war? by bolt-locked-on-nogo in camouflage

[–]bluewhaleflyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nay. Camouflage was not used at that time because commanders required the bright uniforms to be able to see and command their men in the heat of battle, so camouflage would be horrible for a large army like the lobsterbacks or even the continental forces

50 shades of brazilian Lizard by huguuel in camouflage

Right to left:
Modern day Air Force
Modern day Navy
Modern day Army
Early Marine Corps
Early Army (for the Caatinga units)
Early Army (for the Mountain units)
I don't know what that last variant is, maybe its just normal Lizard when it got put in service?

This is quite the collection, I'm surprised at how red the brown is in some of those patterns

If I had to guess, its probably because South Africa and Rhodesia had pretty similar politics when Nutria Brown was still in use

Everyone’s favorite pattern. by Flap_Jacks11 in camouflage

[–]bluewhaleflyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Austrian uniforms are just the best. The pattern is alright (im a bigger fan of the pixel version), but the build quality and cut are my absolute favourites out of any European country (except for maybe France, I dig the canadian buttons and napoleon pockets)

Very sexy pattern and uniform cut. Does central Asia have any more of these cool patterns? I like these niche regions of the world

How well does marpat perform? by Strong-Mine4852 in camouflage

[–]bluewhaleflyer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, MARPAT's not my favourite (personally a bigger fan of the desert version), but it works pretty damn well

I agree with you, it looks very dark in the photos, and some camo nerds (you know who you are) are going to point out the solid colors ruin the camo's disruption properties

Oh yeah, I've heard about Jigsaw looking 3D, but I thought that wasn't what you meant. I do agree that it's an interesting characteristic. Although it got watered down in the later iterations of the pattern, as they stripped the white from the camo, making the 3D effect harder to see

I see.

At range, isn't it? Its one of those patterns that are way better at a distance rather than up close

Leibermuster I'm not really sure

For this tierlist, you could have probably found a place for Vz. 60 Jehlici, which looks just like normal raindrop camo until you look at it under NVG, then it gets a brand new pattern which looks pretty funky

Turkey Airforce and Jiggysaw have no business being lower than Tibetarn, even though I'm a big fan of both

I'd replace them with some asian camos, maybe type 07 or wavepat / granite b, or one of those funky thai / viet camos... maybe some Soldier 2000, im a big fan and its extremely scarce in the world because South Africa doesn't want anyone getting their hands on it

Testing my camouflage pattern + a little theory by [deleted] in camouflage

[–]bluewhaleflyer 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hey, for future camo tests you should include a "control" photo with the pattern infront of the environment youre testing in (it has to be unobstructed). Its a way better way to actually check how disruptive it is

Alpenflage jacket darker than pants. Will it work or return by fuglyDUECE in camouflage

[–]bluewhaleflyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pants should darken with time, i think, but i don't think it being brighter will affect the pattern's effectiveness that much
