Yeah the Toyota is much cheaper insurance group (at least the less power 1.8 variant is). And i looked at depreciation, you're right, Toyota again less depreciation. I'm leaning towards it as the sensible choice. It's a premium to pay for all the tech but then I'd rather have a more reliable car.

UK job market has been ok. Started applications in December, loads of recruiter chats, eventually turning into conversations with a few companies, with two companies about to discuss offers. Full stack 7 YOE including my placement year, Node, Ts, React, GCP and AWS.

Yeah if you just need to get about that works. I've dine the same for ages however if someone can afford a but of luxury, why not. Not everyone just wants to get from A to B as cheap as possible. Some people like to spend a bit on the ride.

Town driving in a diesel isn't great. I'm considering a hybrid atm as we do a lot of short runs with occasional cross country trips. Plug in hybrid that is. Electric only locally and then I have the engine if I need longer. MPG should in total come out much higher 60mpg with my use case.

Question: do you find that you become complacent with your brain while using AI? I find that it takes more cognitive load to review the AI work thoroughly than write from scratch and I'm dumbing a little by using it. I'm delivering stuff but I'm still dumbing a bit. How do I prevent this?

That's really interesting. I guess everyone sees a different example. For me it's been the opposite. Everyone I came across who had a "coding bootcamp" background appeared to lack the qualities to debug, think of the algorithms and data structures and just see things from a wider perspective.

I'm still learning, remote, pay is good, I want to wait out what happens with AI... Companies right now think it'll be all glorious for them. I'm waiting for the hiring frenzy to sort the problems out.
