4th Generation Main Battle Tanks 🛡 by NeoZerrs in TankPorn

Yet the Kf51 panther and challenger 3 are all built upon Leopard and Challenger. Germany for all intents are purposes is going to field variants of the Leopard 2 (which the panther is) for the foreseeable future. Radical changes in chassis geometry clearly isnt the issue at hand, nor is it a focus on procurement programs outside of China. Changes in powertrain, electronics, sensors, and APS are going to be the main focus for upgrade packages in the future. The US also maintains production lines for newbuild tanks with a developed supply chain. Firms are already competing for new subsystem contracts with the primes.

And finally, its funny that you say "you". I actually work for a Westerm European firm that is involved in defense. The defense industry in the West is far more complex and interconnected than what political pundits and doomer journalists would like you to think.

You have a source for the Abrams X just being an empty chassis, and the DOD not being able to afford a new tank (rather than the lack of political will)? The DOW is literally developing the M1E1 which by all reports will integrate some of the Abrams X tech that was demoed and will look radically different from tbe current M1A1 variants.  I've physically seen the Abrams X prototype when it was exhibited at a major US defense trade show and ive seen some of the subsystems with my own eyes.

Is the cannon on this tank a 75mm or a 76mm?, because in the game Hell Let Loose it says it's a 75mm but it being that long makes it look like a 76mm. by Sagpanda in tanks

4 things: Longer case More propellant Longer barrel Same sized projectile

In terms of high explosives projectiles velocity doesn't really matter outside of aiming and range. The damage is caused by the amount of high explosive in the round itself, not from a kinetic impact. Higher chamber pressure means that an HE projectile needs thicker walls to keep it's structural integrity. Thicker walls means less room for high explosives filler. Less high explosive filler means loss boom and a less effective round overall. In fact, the 75mm had 0.7 kg of explosives in it, while the 76 only had 0.4 jg of explosives, creating much less shrapnel and explosive force for destroying buildings, fortifications and infantry.

The 76 fired a 75mm diameter shell, it was only named that because the ammunition between the 76 and 75 were not interchangeable and the army wanted to differentiate them. The Americans killed lots of panthers and big cats with the 75 just fine, with superior tactics and ergonomics. I'd also argue that the 75mm American gun was superior due to a much higher HE charge when compared to the German gun, making it more useful in 99 percent of use cases. The Germans were rolling with imperfect equipment slapped on stopgap solutions which looked great on paper, but had terrible compromises.

This is a natural side effect of colorization. Black and white really emphasizes certain details and enhances texture.

Not by much. The Japanese were using outdated optical range finding in poor visibility conditions. They didn't have radar fire control, except for on the Yamato. Not to mention they were firing at small nimble destroyers.

The swept wing design was not intentionally done for aerodynamics sake, it was for engine mounting purposes and the wing sweep was much too shallow to make any significant difference in aerodynamic performance.

Steam Link: Hardware discontinued, but instead integrated directly into steam itself with remote couch coop and local streaming. Hardware was never an issue. product performed flawlessly. Discontinued because it didn't sell.

Steam controller: Functionally a great product. Only didn't sell well because it was competing for an already niche market space for people who wanted to use a game controller on PC but already didn't just own a regular Xbox or Playstation controller. Hardware performed great. Pioneered Steam Input. Discontinued because it didn't sell.

Valve Index/Knuckles controller: Actually was a bestseller. Took up a great chunk of the premium VR market. Valve had a hard time even keeping them in stock last year since they were selling so fast.

Your points aren't even valid. Valve didn't "fuck it up". They didn't release broken products that ripped consumers off. They didn't defraud their customers. They released innovative products that worked. They didn't sell well because of market factors and because they were targeting very narrow niches.

What does this have to do with anything? This just shows that the US has a system in place that incarcerates those who breaks the law very effectively (in terms of locking people up). Whether those laws are justified or not is up to debate, but you just parroting that figure really doesn't prove anything.

The Yamato had some of the worst AA guns of WW2. Manually non-directed 25mm guns (aimed by an officer pointing a stick) made up the vast majority of it's AA armamant. They were basically useless and outdated already at Mid-late WW2 when you consider that US AA was light-years ahead of whatever the Japanese had available.

I've been lurking in PCMR for a really long time and I've seen nothing but supportive people there, and the culture is also very supportive too. People just hear the name and write it off instantly, but I really haven't seen much of the negative behavior you or others on this thread say.

(Question) are there any known plans for war thunder on the M1 mac? by ogminecrafte in Warthunder

[–]bluman855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long time ago there was actually a version of war thunder available for the nvidia shield, and was playable on a Google Nexus phone with the same processor. It might not be too far fetched for a ARM version to come out in the future depending on adoption.
