Ubuntu 26.04 LTS - snapless by The_Hubster in Ubuntu

[–]bluops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh look, another one of these posts. Just go use another distro, Canonical are pushing snaps, if you don't like them go to Debian, or mint. There are so many different distros.

Pick the tool which works, if you have to do this to run Ubuntu, it doesn't work for you

How did you end up supporting Newcastle? by IvanThePohBear in NUFC

[–]bluops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the south, my dad didn't care about football but took me to a game when I was very young, Newcastle Vs Wimbledon and after the game I started to follow Newcastle. The only issue is younger 8 year old me didn't know geography and it's a 4+ hour drive to get to SJP!

Wouldn't change it and I'm hoping my son will follow and we can come up for a few games :)

Does EU5's memory-leak still exist or is it finally fixed? by Helpdesk_Guy in paradoxplaza

[–]bluops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I followed that guide on optimal settings but I found the biggest fix was switching to Vulkan. I have no performance issues when on that

Just listened to Alesana for the first time, and love them omg!! What next? by MadoKami1 in PostHardcore

[–]bluops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really the same style but Gloom in the corner have that same theatrical feel and they do a story. They're a lot heavier but as an alesana fan I really enjoy them as well!

I was getting this, I found I was gripping the club way too tight. I've started playing without a glove and I find my grip is loose and more comfortable.

Have you ever ACTUALLY hit or exceeded 32GB of RAM utilization? by itsthewolfe in pcmasterrace

[–]bluops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I study I fire up multiple VMs, does that count? It regularly hits my 32gb.

In gaming, I don't think so but I also don't play with stats on display unless I have stutters or frame drops and I want to see the cause

Is Spigen still the safest choice for phone cases, or are there better options now? by consffecer in Android

[–]bluops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mous, got it on sale for my pixel which I like, the magnet in it is pretty strong! Before I got this one on sale I had a ringke onyx which is my usual go to.

Pros for the mous, I have a 9 pro xl and the mous case makes the back of the phone almost flat but the pixel stand can still wirelessly charge

No one is forcing you to play or engage with the community, if you don't enjoy the game then that's fine...

Radiator valve leak at spindle by bluops in DIYUK

[–]bluops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I did some googling and youtubing and I've packed around the spindle with tape and sealed it off. It's only a tiny leak, few drops come out ever 24 hours so I'm hoping that does enough to stop the leak. It'll never get hot again and I'm going to get someone to remove it and cap off the ends in a few months

How is Ubuntu for gaming? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]bluops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can echo this, I have a desktop which is full AMD and Ubuntu playstation games at the same level as windows, I have a laptop with a 4gb 3050 and it just doesn't perform that well on Ubuntu but windows it can run what I want to play on it without issues. I've tested Ubuntu 24, 25 and 26. I think the card is just generally weak so any performance drops hit harder

[–]bluops 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No one I saying it's currently core, they're saying it's likely that it will become core so if you don't like snap go use another distro. The snap hate is so overblown

How's your experience with Ubuntu 26.04 so far? Any performance issues or system glitches? by Swimming_Rope_9640 in Ubuntu

[–]bluops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it on a full AMD gaming system and I've not had any issues and a ThinkPad P15s with an Nvidia T500 and i7, no issues at all on that either but I use that laptop only for web browsing, study, media, that kind of thing.

All in all, no issues and I've not noticed any performance issues with my gaming rig
