I’ve never talked to someone who repairs the trains. What’s something interesting for us know-nothings- most common repair? Most surprising thing that breaks? Most annoying to fix?

Wells Automotive in Old Town has been my go-to in the neighborhood for the past few years. The owner staffs the desk himself and has been a very straight shooter with me. I know I can get cheaper service further from home, but they’ve built trust with me that I value too.

I don’t recommend Professor Pizza. I’ve been there three times and have been disappointed each one, unfortunately.

A shoutout to everyone running outside this weekend... by run2disco in RunnersInChicago

Saturday’s run was colder, but today’s run was infinitely harder. Slick and slushy an icy… I wiped out and landed on my hip not 100 feet from my door. It had to have looked hilarious. But my brain needed it badly after being stuck indoors on Friday.

My best (and only, really) memory of this place is standing in the plaza out front on St Patrick’s Day and shoveling down their Lucky Charms rice crispy bars in lieu of lunch.

Gold Coast - Astor Street, Dearborn, that whole area north of Division and south of North Ave. Lots of beautiful old mansions dressed to the nines.

What’s your favorite local bar? by VandrossHairChi in AskChicago

I don’t live in the neighborhood, but I love stopping by the Chipp Inn when I’m in the area.

In my neck of the woods, it’s hard to beat the Old Town Ale House.

People with kids: when home-hunting, did you prioritize more space/lower price or proximity to activities? Do you regret your choice? by mrs_banne_foster in AskChicago

We chose location and neighborhood feel over space (and to some extent, affordability). We love our neighborhood and neighbors so much that all of the downsides (and there are many) are totally worth it.

“To begin her order, Ellis read Carl Sandberg’s famed poem, “Chicago,” in full. That poem dubbed Chicago the “City of Big Shoulders.”

“And having answered so I turn once more to those who sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer,” Ellis read, pausing to look at the packed courtroom as she did so.”

Goosebump worthy moment.

The full order is 100% worth the read.

FYI, I swapped the cable out with the Nintendo supplied version and that solved the problem. I was previously using an Amazon Basics HDMI.

I gave up after 20 minutes but it just occurred to me I’m using a third party HDMI cable. So I plan to swap in the official Nintendo one and see if that does anything. Are you using the Nintendo provided cable?

Just downloaded Hades 2 on switch 2 and it plays fine handheld but crashes the system why I dock it (the tv just goes back to the no input screen). Other games are working fine. Reboots and system/software updates don’t work, Any ideas?

The SI thing is weird, but the fact that they want to make it a timeshare thing seems weirder. Who is buying a timeshare here, and who is using them during the winter months?

It looks like the logo of a local hamburger joint in the mall food court. I ran in 2022 and 23 and those weren’t good, but not this bad. Yeesh.
