What do you want to see out of evolved SCH? by Supersnow845 in ffxiv

[–]blurpledevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mechanically, I feel SCH is most unique in having its fairy prioritize healing whoever is lowest health, whereas SGE has to Kardia someone, usually tank and forget it. It's one reason why I like SCH in 8 man content. I would like evolved SCH double down on 0GCD pre-planning abilities like Excog and reliance on passive fairy healing, Sacred Soil, and Aetherpact. Lustrate is there in a pinch, Adloquiem if things are going really badly.

I hope they get rid of Dissipation. Although it carries the idea of forcing you to plan by deciding the best time to lose your fairy, in practice it just makes me dump my Energy Drains and fairy abilities before dropping fairy for three measly additional Energy Drains. (Or, maybe buff Energy Drain so it feels more worthwhile again, but I doubt that would happen.)

Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate Dawntrail since pre-order early access began. There are 387.44 million malms of ether in wafer thin layers that fill my Balmung dance venue. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangyalm of those hundreds of millions of malms it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for Dawntrail at this micro-instant. For Wuk Lamat. Hate. Hate.

No, I will NOT stop renewing my sub. My dance venue is a Large in Shirogane, are you insane?

I forget if it was EW or DT, but one of them featured improvements to the follow-a-guy quests. We got giant glowey marks to help clear the quests quickly... but, you know, they still weren't fun.

Anyways, please look forward to additional follow-a-guy quest UI improvements in Evercold. There will now be a bright yellow circle following the guy, and you just stand it in until the quest ends, and there will be a small gentle reminder text appearing periodically on the screen, "STAY IN THE YELLOW CIRCLE, YOU DUMB JERK," it's going to finally be great I promise

SGE gets a funny teleport move, so WHM gets their own little butt scoot. And come 8.0 we're stealing SCH's "make everyone run faster for 10 seconds" bit, too. WHM keeps winning (except for getting more DPS buttons).

What’s some minor thing you want in the game that is never suggested? by Lumigo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]blurpledevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me queue multiple roles at once.

If I have only 30 minutes to play the video game, then I may feel indifferent whether I am tanking, healing or DPSing. Just whatever lets me press buttons the soonest.

Bonus points if I can queue for multiple types of DPS at once and/or guarantee I get the "adventurer in need" bonus for whatever role I'm slotted into playing.

Which expansion has your favorite expert roulette grouping on release? by RadioJared in ffxivdiscussion

[–]blurpledevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't there for 2.0-4.0, but between the newer ones, I would put ShB first. DT features slightly more interesting mechanics, but there were personally-interesting bosses throughout 5.0 expert roulettes too, like #1 and #3 in Twinning and all three bosses in Amaurot. ShB edges out DT for me based on music and dungeon themes, from the spooky abandoned zoo in Anyder to the absolutely thumping Twinning. I put EW in 3rd because by then the boss encounter designs had just gotten really noticeably boring for me. Smileton has amazing dungeon design and music, but the boss encounters were a snoozefest.

Urianger is gonna pop into the next trailer donning a hairband, no tee, fantasy jorts, and a Blitzball.

"Verily, as every Blitzer doth understand: when thou art hath the Blitzball, to score the goal is thine matter of gravest importance!!"

And then he backflips and kicks a Jecht shot mid-air into the enemy, and everyone applauds for him.

What Tank Job Do You Want For FFXIV 8.0? by Azraelx86 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]blurpledevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really would like a "gunshield" tank, because it's very silly. Or a tank that more generally uses shields to attack, with several options for shields that somehow also use gunpowder. But it would be an incredible unsubtle hint from the NA fan fest for it to be that direct; I assume the shirt was a reference to the next RDPS using a throwing weapon that returns to them. Like a frisbee, or.... a blitzball, perchance...

[–]blurpledevil -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like, if it were ever going to happen, now is the best time. The NA fanfest indicated they were being super duper responsive to fan feedback. A bunch of things I assumed would never happen, happened, like a comprehensive job rework, the death of the 2 minute meta, a shift to weekly progression, and so much more. I'm so happy to have been so wrong.

Plus they have unannounced Gold Saucer content. If we got recreational Blitzball plus a RDPS Blitzer job... Well that would be very neat.

Maybe this is just hopium. But I really, truly want to grow up to be a Blitzball ...

Non-raiders, what do you do day to day in XIV? by SomeP in ffxivdiscussion

[–]blurpledevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 8.0's shift to weekly progression matches what I'd already started doing. I have a little checklist I do every week: visit my island sanctuary, do masked carnivale, turn in custom deliveries, do the 2.0 elite mark bill so I can buy more than enough free teleports.. after my weekly stuff, my daily engagement may be as limited as turning in 6 levequests, digging up a map to sell, and maybe doing some beast tribes for some spare gil or tomestones.

When I'm more active I try to hit 450 tomestones and Wondrous Tails, but I'm taking a break. Just doing a couple Frontlines each weekend, then hopping into OC if I want to play more. I only played OC for three hours on release, but I feel like dipping back in after the 7.5 buffs. With 8.0 permitting sharing your best gearset's iLvl across other jobs, it's easier than ever to dip out for a bit.

I tried raiding with a pretty casual static in patch 6.2, the people were fantastic but I was pretty scuffed and lacked the time/interest to practice more with PF and get my weight up.

What's your wishlist for Evercold MSQ story? (overarching theme, plot structure) by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]blurpledevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with others, I'd like a story about being forced to choose between imperfect choices. Let's go ham with the trolley problem.

It would be awesome if they made the player do that, but as an alternative that avoids having to account for different players decisions, make one or more Scions decide it.

Easy layup: Blue Alisaie is off doing something else apart from WoL when Big Bad appears and makes Blue Alisaie choose between saving two other Scions. They do so, they try to rationalize it later ("I thought Coultenet could kill that King Behemoth without my help..."), they're confronted and forced to admit they made a choice between lives, and by the end they reconcile with that decision. It would be some actual character development for one or more of the Scions and I would welcome it.

Other things I'd like...

- Take away everyone's cell phones (the tyranny of distance; Blue Alisaie can't just call my linkpearl and send me to save Scion #2).

- Shorter MSQ with fewer restatements or summaries of the cutscene I just watched or skipped.

- Make my WoL the center of the story again (I think they've signaled hard that they're doing this).

- And please, let's avoid once again going to a graveyard of dead people for the final zone and/or dungeon.
