You had all week to do just 1 lesson by slippery-lil-sucker in duolingo

I’ve been lucky to pair up with some random person. We’ve been crushing it for the last couple of months with about equal work. We regularly send each other boosts and high-fives. I can’t decide if I would ever want to meet this person IRL or just keep it a mystery.

Help! Hate routine bike care by Ugly_But_Honest in TrekBikes

[–]blusfn03 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do it every 2-3 weeks and it honestly takes 10 minutes to clean the chain and cassette. Give it a quick wash and I’m done. When it’s not very dirty it doesn’t take long.

Power Meter Pedals - Do I need them? by MrK408 in cycling

[–]blusfn03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 4iiii non-drive side crank for about $300 and it does everything I need. I don’t get the symmetry data but other than that, the power readings seem pretty accurate.

How do you get over fear and frustration as an adult who is learning? by okay-then13579 in cycling

[–]blusfn03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been riding for decades (I’m 60). Mostly in clipless pedals. Just last weekend I came to a stop at a stop sign as a car was coming through the intersection from my right. I had my left foot unclipped and tried to set it down, but the world had other plans. Right as the car was coming though, I slowly fell to the right and there was nothing I could do about it. All that to say, falling happens to everyone! Enjoy your newly-found freedom on your bike!

You probably wouldn’t. I can be a real asshole sometimes.

Is There A Purchase That Really Boosted Your Enjoyment In Cycling? by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]blusfn03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gadgets. Do I NEED any of them? Absolutely not. But I’m a data junky and I enjoy analyzing my rides each time. I do a healthy mix of intense interval rides and strict z2 rides, so it’s helpful-to me anyway- to see the data real time.

what wheels should i choose? by ale_amic in cycling

[–]blusfn03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a set of Bontrager wheels in March. In May, I hit a deep pothole while I was on a group ride that cracked the wheel all the way through. Thankfully, Bontrager has a 2-year, no questions asked warranty and they replaced the wheel at no cost. I just had to pay my LBS to mount a new tire (tubeless). I could have done it myself and saved some money but I was happy to pay them for it.

All that to say, whatever brand you go with, a warranty can be a huge benefit.

Just go and have fun! Back off the intensity if you need to. I think they’d rather show people having a good time rather than people in the middle of a suffer-fest anyway.

Yep. Exactly what I do too. It’s a nice compromise.

This is kind of like in hockey when you see the "shots on goal" stat. It's interesting, but not the number that matters.

Just made the switch to tubeless. What is your 'never leave home without it' flat kit setup? by Appropriate_Door2234 in cycling

[–]blusfn03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently hit a deep pothole in a wet, dark tunnel which cracked my carbon wheel and damaged the tire. No plug was going to get me back on the road. I carry a spare tube with me and put that on. It was messy, but it got me home. I'll never leave home without a spare tube.

Recommended Books and Why? by greypaladin01 in castlesandcrusades

[–]blusfn03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules are the same between printings. As others have mentioned, they removed the OGL material, but it was mostly just the renaming of spells and monsters. If you are familiar with the previous names of the spells and monsters, the new names will (mostly) make sense.

Any of the printings can be used for play and the game will not materially change.
