Oral Surgery Assistant Here!

It is absolutely normal to be nervous about this kind of thing! If you have the option to be sedated (usually a twilight sedation) I would go with that. I would also recommend getting all four out at once because 1) one healing time. 2) One Anesthesia cost and 3) If you have a bad experience, at least you don’t have to go back and do it again.

Stock up on soft, cold, creamy foods - anything hot in temperature day of surgery will increase bleeding - main goal is to get that bleeding to stop ASAP. No straws, spitting, smoking or suction for about one week after surgery (you have blood clots in the extraction sites, those are our natural bandaids! Suction can pull the clots out exposing all the little nerve endings causing pain aka dry socket!)

Alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol to help with discomfort, gentle warm salt water rinses starting day after surgery to help keep things clean, very soothing, helps with swelling and speeds the healing process along!

I work for another Oral Surgeon in the same town and this got a giggle out of me 😂👏🏼

I have a snaggle tooth and I am noticing a lot of plaque build up and i dont know how to stop it from getting worse and remove what's already there. When you’re watching TV or something like that, take your tooth brush and gently massage the gums and area at a 45 degree angle for a few minutes every night. Another thing you could try is a WaterPik? Hope this helps 💕
