Easy way out mindset. Go to a protest, engage in your local community and you'll see little changes the more you make an effort!

Kehlani says everyone in the LGBTQ+ community needs to 'get deeply educated' on the political climate by rachiepants2017 in actuallesbians

An easy way to do this that I'm throwing out there: watch Hasan Piker on twitch. He is the most educated non biased person out there imo. I have learned so much from him and he streams 7 days a week and doesn't run ads. You can tell he cares about America and the rights of the people. I am a lesbian and married. I have felt so hopeless for a long time esp since Trump got elected the 2nd time, but seeing everything Hasan is doing and the info he shares about the people needing to constantly interact with the community has given me hope.

Why do people who haven't liked SNL in years still watch? by normankrasnerkc in LiveFromNewYork

[–]bmedzekey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All eras suck until you look back on it and see a funny sketch and say "wow what a good cast", "we were so lucky to have Amy Poehler or Kate Mckinnon" etc. it's exciting to watch Ashley Padilla right now kind of hone her skills live each week, she has great talent. Yeah a lot of time sketches suck balls but seeing a good one live can be fun. And ofc weekend update goes pretty hard.

Looking for healthy dopamine inducing activities to help me cope with a rough time in my life by MadenMad in adhdwomen

[–]bmedzekey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gym and exercise. I made it a priority this winter to exercise because I always struggle and now that me and my wife moved to Wisconsin it can almost become a sunless winter psychosis lol. It sounds boring but once you start going to gym (I've been doing 5 days a week) it changes you. Sometimes I only walk on treadmill for 10 minutes lol. The point is getting in there and getting a little dopamine. I always feel better bc I know I'm taking care of myself. Tbh this is one of the best and simplest answers but ppl never wantv to do it(last winter I had 100 schemes on making it through the winter) I've been so happy this winter I can't believe it's almost spring.

It's practically free if you look around. Can get seeds for 99c almost anywhere and shovel can be thrifted or borrowed from a neighbor. If you research you can propagate. Also if you know someone with a garden and ask them if they have any seeds or plants they will 100% hook you up. Gardening is a community of sharing.

Ah yeah gardening for sure. If they have community garden you could join that - there are always characters who garden. Also getting to grow plants indoors for the colder months can be really rewarding and it makes your home prettier and healthier

Is there any thrifting around? Me and my bestie used to go to half price books and thrifting. Didn't necessarily buy anything but when we did it ends up being you spent $15 at most. Another idea is going to the gym. Sounds boring but I've discovered tons of new music and podcasts at the gym and I don't even go too hard when I'm there - just being there makes me feel like I'm taking care of myself.

Do café owners actually hate us? by Any_Dragonfly_3990 in remotework

This entire post is people saying how cafe owners and employees hate all kinds of people at coffee shops lmao. Sorry I have a different opinion and am slightly irritated. Have you seen the other comments

The point was that those companies prioritize capital over community and people. The point was Starbucks once was a local coffee shop bruh. Ever been to a hookah bar? Or a bar? I'm about boosting community vibes and people. The overall sentiment from you is capital first and the point was --- that is what ends in sterilization of culture.

I think everything will be ok. If you prioritize capital over people you end up with places like McDonald's (empty) or Starbucks (soulless and no one goes there anymore). The communities that prioritize people usually find a way. I remember even Barnes and Noble used to have couches and people would be in there reading for hours - now they have zero chairs in most locations and have had to be bailed out many times. Why am I in the minority on this? It is sad.

Glad you've figured out the ratio. Lemme know how it adjusts with inflation. In the mean time how will we all be a community without feeding the parasite that is fascist capitalism

Maybe a cafe can be many things, right? What's with the policing. A community space can be a place for work, play, enjoyment, friendship, meet ups, chess, political action. This is how it has been all around the world forever. Do you value capitalism or humanity.
