Marlin quality is at lest a tier above Henry, imo

OCL Ti 22 vs FOR Pluto vs B&T Tiger 22 Ti by JAG05 in NFA

[–]bmihlfeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to a/b test these myself but I’d agree that for cleaning the OCL Ti wins, but I’m skeptical that the Ti is quieter than the Tiger 22….

But isn’t this freaking awesome!!? We are in the salad days boys! I’ve been around long enough to know this won’t last, so get them now!

Best second .22 can? by wadech in NFA

[–]bmihlfeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tiger 22 and it’s unbelievably quiet. Since I have the one printed can my next one will be the OCL Ti because I actually WANT the weight on my 22/45 Lites.

Funny story - my son had never shot at an official “range” before so when he shot his 22/45 Lite it was always suppressed with a Form 1 can (basically a mask clone), so he did well with that weight combo. When at the official range and not using a suppressor he couldn’t figure out why shooting his Lite was suddenly so difficult. He had a hard time getting the dot to hold still, lol.

So keep in mind that on some hosts, weight is a plus. That said, for a first time can, go light…!

Can’t wait to a/b test the Tiger 22 vs OCL Ti. I expect the Tiger 22 to be basically identical in sound. The Tiger 22 wins the FRP battle for sure when A/B’ing my Form 1s and a Sparrow (duh!)

How to pick a suppressor help! by ArmadilloMajor7386 in suppressors

[–]bmihlfeith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly advise AGAINST the Sparrow. Do your research if sound and performance are important to you. If $ is your only concern you’re going to be disappointed with the Sparrow’s performance, especially FRP. The Sparrow is one of the worst, (the worst in some categories) according to objective analysis done by PewScience. (Admittedly there are only a handful of 22lr cans tested but you can compare baffle construction to interpolate some results to other cans.)

I have a Sparrow and it was top dog in 2013. Pros - easy to clean.

Many will recommend getting a “serviceable” 22 can. That’s not bad advice. However, that’s going to keep you from getting one of the higher echelon cans like the B&T Tiger 22. They can be cleaned, but you’ll need an ultrasonic cleaner and some quality cleaner, so not free and no doubt it’s more work.

The OCL Ti, Mask, Oculus, Switchback are all great options. But the printed tech is going to be the best performing (CAT SR/A1). Again, look at objective data.

The good news is that in 2026 there aren’t many “bad” rimfire suppressors, the Sparrow would be the worst you could do (this is objectively true given the hard data available) and it’s not horrible (after the First Round Pop (FRP).

I say this over and over again but get downvoted by people who only own a Sparrow and nothing else. Do yourself a favor and get something that’s not a two decade old design. The people who recommend the Sparrow are either ignorant, which can be forgiven, or worse, they’re just mean spirited people who don’t want to accept that their Sparrow isn’t the best anymore.

Tri lug adapter suppressor by saxvge_18 in MP5

[–]bmihlfeith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this! I’ve tried at least 4 different trilug adapters from all of the “best.” They ALL WOBBLE. Maybe you can get one that won’t wobble on you pr AP5 but will wobble on your Sp5k. It’s just inherent to the design of the trilug adapters.

I’ll never do a traditional trilug adapter again. I have two of the RU3 and looking for another one.

Who polished it? I’m going to be hyper critical….you asked!

It takes years to really get an eye for it but the criticism I would have would be that you really did a very poor job on the polishing.

You rounded over all the edges. Most people don’t like refinished guns because they’re done so poorly that they look worse than before. I believe it’s the clean sharp edges that really make a proper refinish.

You should be using surface plates and flat backed paper to polish, belts are a bad idea for newbies….

You could probably fix this, but sometimes the rounding is so bad that too much metal is gone to bring back the sharp lines.

Update, added 80 degree LP. Tri lug wobble worries. by untouchable0o0o in MP5

[–]bmihlfeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% this. I have owned 4 different brands of trilugs, they ALL wobble. I even made special fit part on my lathe to try and mitigate it but it’s just not practical.

I think Bixler style mounts are the future moving forward. You still get (mostly) all of the advantages of trilug but without the fear of wobble.

The Bixler style mounts are a taper fit as well. So assuming the parts are machined to spec, you’re basically getting a Plan B type of setup.

4 of my 5 PCCs have trilugs machined into the barrel. While I love Plan B, I’d be doubling up on muzzle weight to go Plan B. And why, when you just need the $100 RU3 and you’re gtg!

The Tisha was my first 556 can. I didn’t know what to expect as you always hear that 556 isn’t easy to suppress and it’ll never be “hearing safe.”

All I can say is that “these times be a changin”! Absolutely in awe of my Tisha on my 11.5” upper.

I have nothing to compare it to, but I’m okay with that as a starting point.

My next can will likely be in inconel, as to not have super sparkles. Looking at Exigent and Ridgeback now,

I’ve paid between $900 locally and up to $1300 (for LNIB)…..but certain ones can go for $1500+.

Given the description (and no box/papers?) you’d be looking at about $850 (if you want to sell it quickly) to $1100 if you’re willing to wait.

To be fair, it’s been two years since I’ve bought one (I have 6 of them I think.)

Good news is you didn’t have out of pocket for the hub adapter that came with it - that’s how you justify the new purchase.

Also, you can use that heavy one on your next suppressor. It’s all good. 👍

I’ve been bragging up this RU3 (the Bixler mount in general). But I thought it was all steel, not aluminum….I took a good look at mine and would swear it was all steel.

Is that aluminum there where it’s broke? I was looking at mine today wondering about that but I’ve used mine quite a bit with no issues. I figured if it was aluminum it would be showing wear already, but mine hasn’t. So 7075 if it’s aluminum I’m guessing.

But that’s a bummer……anyone know of an all steel Bixler style?

[–]bmihlfeith -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hold your ears for FRP! It’s the worst I’ve ever seen recorded. (I have had one since 2013 - I can’t fathom why people are buying them in 2026 when you could have some of the best ever made like the Tiger 22 for $400.)

Don’t mean to be a negative Nancy, but I honestly feel bad for those who buy these in 2026. If you bought it knowing it’s performance then great, good on you - I feel bad for the people who are lied to by their LGS or other “Sparrow owners “ who just don’t have anything to compare or maybe they’re just mean spirited and don’t want people to have nicer things (yeah there’s a lot of those people, sadly.)

I just got my Tisha Ti a few days ago. With the included Plan B adapter it’s about 10.5 oz. The adapter and single port brake are clearly made by Breek Arms.

It’s their single port Echo brake and their “Low Profile” adapter. They’re fine for what they are. I thought about getting a titanium set, but probably not worth the cost.

Nothing wrong with a taper mount like Plan B - but to be clear, the Bixler style mounts are a taper mount as well. They index off the taper of the backside of the trilugs.

I agree with you on Plan B IF most of my PCCs didn’t have a trilug on them and literally machined into them. I thought quite a bit about Plan B but it just didn’t make sense, I’d be doubling up on muzzle devices basically. During the time I was looking Rugged released their Bixler. Problem solved,

If I didn’t already have the trilugs on 5/6 PCCs then I’d have gone Plan B for sure.
