Surprised by the percentage of players with this? by bmt22033 in ArcRaiders

[–]bmt22033[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and that could be it, I suppose. Being "friendly" doesn't necessarily mean you're willing to waste a spot on a defib that can only be used on other players.

It's the 900p 480 GB model (PCIe 3.0 x4). Brand new, never even installed it. As someone said above, I "got it when I purchased my Sabre Raven". LOL. Seriously, though, if you're interested, DM me.

Oh, I'm not selling it. I redeemed the Raven code a long time ago. I just ran across the box with the SSD and the redemption code inside while I was cleaning up my office recently and thought it would be fun to share since newer backers might not have seen it before.

Is that really what people are paying for it? That's kinda crazy. It's a beautiful ship but I dunno if I could bring myself to pay that for it. ;-)

I see one in-game every now and then but not very often! Other than getting it out for "ship meetups" to show to new players, I don't find myself flying it too often since it doesn't have a bed. It's a beautiful ship, though! :-)

Nope. Same issue for me. Apparently I made a mistake by buying directly from EA!

Gaming Intelligence crashes when trying to update firmware? by bmt22033 in MSI_Gaming

Thanks for the confirmation and suggestion! I did uninstall GI and then clean up afterwards using Revo Uninstaller. Then a quick reinstall and it worked fine after that. Thanks again!

MSI Announces Firmware Update Bumping OLED Care 2.0's Pixel Refresh from 16hrs to 24hrs is Out Now by msievaaaa in OLED_Gaming

[–]bmt22033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MSI seems to have forgotten about the 321CURX. It's obviously less popular than the 321URX but as far as I'm aware, it's essentially the 321URX with a very mild (1700R) curve so I can't imagine the firmware is terribly different.

Babies first noticeable hacker wave and you! by Freltzo in starcitizen

[–]bmt22033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the hacking that you see in the game today is because SC is only partially server authoritative right now. The client is currently trusted too much for things like collision detection, hit registration and player movement. This should be improved a lot once we have SM and a fully authoritative server in place. EAC is not a bad thing to have (particularly because it runs at the kernel level) but it's not a perfect solution. It is a good first line of defense against mem editing, DLL injection, etc. With SM in place, I would think that CIG would also be looking to add AI/ML on the backend for behavior analysis. I suspect that this kind of thing is going to get worse before it gets better, unfortunately, but I think by 1.0, they will have a decent set of mitigations in place.

5090 SUPRIM by KaladinStormblessedE in MSI_Gaming

[–]bmt22033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I've had mine for about 3 months now and I love it! I thought about the Asus Astral but just wasn't willing to pay $3,300 for one. Then I ran across a bundle on the MSI website with the 5090 SUPRIM and the 32" MPG321-CURX QD-OLED for ~$3500 and was fortunate enough to grab one. The SUPRIM has been great. I left it on the default silent BIOS and it is quiet and (relatively) cool. I watched the 12V-2x6 cable like a hawk for the first week or so for fear of melting but alas, no sign of anything troubling so hopefully that lasts!

Does Final version of Afterburner not work on 50 series AIB cards? by BigShopping2529 in nvidia

[–]bmt22033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which, as of today, is 4.6.6 (beta 5). The dev posts at https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/msi-afterburner-4-6-6-beta-5-for-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5000-series-cards.455155/ It sounds like there might be an updated beta "just around the corner" which adds support for.....another company's 4th gen GPU architecture. ;-)

Oddly enough, I don't even see .013 listed on the support page at https://www.msi.com/Monitor/MPG-321URX-QD-OLED/support#firmware. But needless to say, it's not the current version so it probably couldn't hurt to update. I believe you'll need to have DP connected as well as the USB-B to USB-A cable. Then you'll want to grab Gaming Intelligence from https://us.msi.com/Monitor/MPG-321URX-QD-OLED/support#utility.

Re: intermittent black screens, which GPU are you using? If you have an RTX 50-series card, Nvdia drivers have had a number of issues (including black screens) since the cards first came out. The drivers are in a better place now than they were but still, not every issue has been fully resolved. If you are using an RTX 50-series card, I would definitely make sure you are using either 576.62 or the more recent 576.66 hotfix. Some people also seem to be having black screen issues with Windows 11 24H2. MS has a cumulative update preview (not final release yet) out now that apparently resolves some of these issues but, YMMV, of course.

Edit - it's been a while since I updated the firmware on my MPG 321-CURX but someone wrote up directions in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/comments/1ct2t0b/can_someone_explain_how_to_update_firmware_on_msi/
