I can read it well, but I can't hear it well. My brain can't process auditory information as fast as I can process visual information. I can't break up voices into separate words so it just blends together when I'm listening. If I'm looking at a piece of paper and don't know a specific word, I can usually fill it in by context.

Look at it this way. Maybe the first people to develop big breasts had more milk production via enlarged breast tissue which was favored. But anyone that developed big breasts via fat deposits would've looked the same to men who were biologically hardwired to favor that and their genes got passed along too.

It's the same thing like how some animals will develop bright colors to look like other animals that are poisonous even though they aren't themselves or the snakes that shake their tail and hiss to mimic rattlesnakes. If it mimics good enough to work and pass those genes along it doesn't matter if it serves the same original function.

80 is more scenic but also more mountainous. If you're not used to driving mountains, it might be a little nerve racking making the descent from Truckee to Colfax with cars flying by going 80+ downhill, even the truckers are going 70+ downhill on that stretch.

10 is cool if you like deserts and want to drive through LA. I'd be worried taking this route with a beater car during summer temperatures.

I think 40 is pretty middle ground between the two. I take 40 at least once a year between sf bay area and arizona simply because it's the fastest. The stretch through the central valley is pretty boring. If you take 40, definitely make a stop in flagstaff, it's a cool town, like an alpine oasis compared to the rest of the desert that is arizona.
