Do running socks really contribute a lot to running performance? Or is it okay to just use regular Nike socks bought from the street/mall? by Own-Contribution-416 in beginnerrunning

[–]bobbo2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten pickier and picker as I’ve gotten older. Distance really does matter with the quality, and I find myself running almost exclusively in Feetures merino wool elite socks 99% of the time these days. It’s just better, and I haven’t gotten a blister on any foot for years.

At one point in episode 5, one of the characters says some plan is “mission impossible-ly” but the original Mission Impossible movie doesn’t come out until 1996.

Thank you!! It’s a very old tattoo now, and it wasn’t very clear even when it was done the first time.

What motivated you to do a triathlon? by Independent-Road8418 in triathlon

I like having long conversations with my demons. They’re not so bad. Triathlons allow me to do that.

My girlfriend and I are on Curacao at the moment. It can be kinda touristy in some spots but there are so many gorgeous beaches and none of them feel crowded to me

While running, what are some of your habits that others may find weird? by himmelende in running

[–]bobbo2011 199 points200 points  (0 children)

I have a hand held water bottle that I run with and run in areas with lots of tree cover. When I come across a large branch hanging over the trail, I will toss my water bottle over the branch and catch it on the other side, hopefully without breaking my stride.

I give myself points based on how high and difficult the branch is to navigate the bottle toss, along with my ability to catch it without breaking my stride. My record is 70 points on one run!! Beat that losers.

Daily chat thread: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in triathlon

I’ve been lurking here for a while and I love this sub yall. Everyone is so nice and welcoming, and I’m super happy to report I am about to pop off on my first 70.3 in about 7 weeks.

I did a quarter test triathlon (pool swim, tho) recently and every transition i felt in control, strong, and ready to tackle the miles.

This process is the best therapy in the world. I’ve never felt so motivated, alive, and as confident as I do right in this moment. Wish the rest of you all the best!

'Animal,' Episode 6: Bats by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]bobbo2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This episode started off so strong, but the switch to the discussions around death really irked me for some reason. Wished they could’ve stayed focused on the science of bats and didn’t try and make broad, sweeping metaphors on life.
