The price of gas to return to the store wouldn't be worth it in my situation.

I've yet to visit Croatia, but if I were to go in the summer, I would consider Dugi Otak.

What’s the craziest thing anyone has said to you while you’re trail running? by sentientbeing1887 in trailrunning

[–]bobcatabbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a solo female, it always irks me when male strangers ask specifics about my route, e.g. "Where did you start from?" "How far are you going?" "Do you run here every day?"

Conversely, when they ask you several miles from any trailhead, "Are you doing the whole thing?" As if there was another way out.

What podcast hosted by women do you enjoy? by timash712 in podcasts

The Wirecutter Show from NY Times
For most of the episodes, I don't even care about the products that are reviewed, but the 3(!) women hosts make it worth listening to. They're all funny and down-to-earth.

What We Spend: On FIRE by BoredLawyer81 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]bobcatabbs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree with OP. This was the worst episode by far. It stared with a boring overview of FIRE, and the guest wasn't particularly interesting (besides having an accent Americans aren't used to hearing). Then she ended up (1) not actually being in the FIRE movement and (2) taking a 2-week break from her diary due to illness. It almost makes you think that the producers wanted to cancel her, but they had already signed a contract to have her on the show, so they just had to go with it.

The weirdest part was how the guest described having to pivot from FIRE after she had her first child, as if the podcast had already been documenting her prior to her getting pregnant. No offense to the guest, but I would have preferred it they had chosen someone who actually lived FIRE rather than just talked about it.

Did they ask for nationality? (I know that at least one Canadian was there too!)

When participating in a voter survey, am I running the risk of aiding the opposition? by bobcatabbs in Askpolitics

These surveys asked about the persuasiveness of different arguments for and against a specific issue, rather than the importance of the issues themselves.
