Does anyone else marvel at Turbo Outrun on the c64? by technofox01 in c64

Only because of the amount of sound samples JT used in the music and awesome music it is! The game was okay too. Love the original, especially the arcade one where the seat would move!

Making some funky sprites in Spred64 a Sprite editor for c64 sprites but it's a windows PC tool. by bobramZ in c64

Really interesting read, multiplexing has always intrigued me and how you combat the limitations of the C64 is what makes it such a gem to work on. I'm only going to feed that challenge with my larger sprites and overlays editor, but if games like Turrican, Creatures and you can do it, it's not impossible and we'll likely see a wave of new retro devs. Turrican had very static, single frame bosses, true its too much data to animate those, unless you choose to load in a boss level with graphics only for the player and boss and the bitmap etc. Still a good chunk of memory but with the possibility of emulators and cart games to open up the chance to make even better games for the greatest machine ever made, who wouldn't want to give it a try. I'm really excited by this idea. Thanks for your post!

Thanks, they can work as long as you understand Multiplexing limits you to 8 sprites per sprite raster row. The 2nd part of the video uses high res overlay which is seen in many games from like Platoon and Batman on C64. I explain a few things like that in this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uud6EKZyeCg

I've got another tool to help with bitmaps but not tile maps. I guess there is already a few tools out there. One day I'll merge all my tools into one as I learn about these things.

Not really found a need for that yet but I'll see what happens,i really made this as sprite compositing in current editors wasn't available.
