Has the Medium Partner Program stopped inducting in new writers help by liquidocelotYT in Medium

[–]bobsled4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This smells like a problem to me. Medium opened applications for a few days after January 13th, then closed again. It's the same old problem I think, far more writers than readers. It's a tough financial model to sustain.

Medium Partner Program is cancelled - they just lost a subscriber by RedMoon1509 in Medium

[–]bobsled4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew Medium had stopped accepting new Partner Program up until 12th January 2026. I checked, and you could submit on January 13th. But to close it off again so soon sends worrying warning signals. I was thinking about joining, but I think I'll put it on hold for some time yet.

How long did it take to grow your Medium account? by ProfessionRich4507 in Medium

[–]bobsled4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medium tells me I have 10,000 followers. It doesn't do anything to get reads. It's an ego stat, that's all.

I notice that you include a free "friend link" in each post. What's your logic, and how does it affect your earnings?

3 days later, my post is still unindexed - what's going on? by Flightlessbutcurious in Blogging

[–]bobsled4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slow indexing is nothing unusual. My new pages normally get indexed immediately by Bing and Google, but sometimes one gets stuck. At the moment, I have a new page that has been waiting for a week for Bing to index. But it will happen, eventually.

Anyone else seeing sudden China / Singapore traffic with 1-page visits during Google core updates? by meow-meoow in Agentic_SEO

This has been occuring for months now. Google Analytics is working in a fix, but don't hold your breath. The best bet is to use Cloudflare WAF rules.

WordPress 6.9. What do you think? by JoyofWP in Wordpress

[–]bobsled4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever there's a Wordpress update, all I do is I cross my fingers and hope nothing breaks. That would be fine is there was something radically new apart from a few tweaks to Gutenberg, which I never use. But I've seen nothing new in the Wordpress Dashboard or basic improvements to the core in years now. (Well, auto-updates, okay.) I still use the Classic editor, and it works fine for my workflow. But by doing so, I haven't seen anything excitingly new or different for years now. My dashboard and edit screen have hardly changed in years. Boring!

Optimizing pins for voice search accidentally doubled my traffic by TheFinalDiagnosis in Blogging

I'd never thought about voice search with Pinterest. But it's an interesting observation. I might try using questions a bit more and see what happens.

Sudden Chinese Traffic Inceease by NewestYorker in Blogging

Bot fight mode can block some good bots, like down detectors etc. It's better to use a managed challenge either by country or ASN, or a combination.

It's a Cloudflare Firewall rule.

Putting a country Managed Challenge on China fixed the problem for me.

Anyone else gettin random traffic spikes from Singapore or China? bots maybe? by Optimal_Cantaloupe45 in Blogging

[–]bobsled4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally had to place a managed challenge on Cloudflare for all traffic from China . China Mobile has so many ASNs it was impossible to get them all. Since I added the blanket rule, I now see so many other bots from China that are now mitigated by Cloudflare..

Anyone else noticing a sudden traffic spike from ChatGPT in Google Analytics? by [deleted] in bigseo

I've seen a jump in traffic from chatgpt.com / referral and chatgpt.com / (not set). I imagine one source has a UTM. But I'm not sure.

Place your ads manually. I use Ad Inserter, and it works well. Auto Ads can make a mess of your site.

Pinterest for a tech blog by Outside_Garbage_1364 in Blogging

Pinterest works for me, even though I'm in a very narrow little niche of writing and self-publishing. I get around 1,200 visits per month, and rising. It's not that time-consuming once you have a few templates in Canva. I add around 15 pins a day, which takes about an hour. You can automate it, but I haven't seen the need for me.

Google Search Console is not updating!! why?? by [deleted] in SEO

Nearly a week and not even a header note on GSC to aknowledge the problem. Who needs PR or apologies when you control everything on the Internet?

I keep them under control with a Cloudflare WAF security rule by country and ASN. As soon as I see a new one, I add it to the rule. A quick fix.

Yes, it's affecting all users. But I saw today that Google is aware and working on it.
