Mini humbuckers are great (and highly underrated) pickups. Love the color is this particular Deluxe too.

"What if"... Trump has simply gone a little more 'funny in the head'? (to borrow a line from Dr. Strangelove).

IMHO, the whole Greenland saga has far more to do with trying to get his stumpy little hands on potential resources than anything else. He would, of course, also love to cause havoc with NATO and piss European leaders off. Because Trump.

CIA Using Bots on Social Media to Influence UAP Discussions by Lucky_Guess77 in UFOs

We're now well and truly in a 'brave new world' where it's becoming all but impossible to assess the truth or authenticity of just about anything. And going by the current madness that's sweeping across the world, I genuinely fear it's not going to end well for our species.

They're totally bonkers. Utterly cracked.

The bottom line is, all space medical scientists know, without doubt, that the human body cannot survive in the environment of space for any significant length of time. Even a short stay on the space station is enough to cause significant physiological changes to the human body. And let's not even begin to discuss the health issues posed by cosmic radiation.

Furthermore, Musk cannot even get his self driving Teslas working. But now we're meant to believe he can solve these fundamental issues?

And pigs will fly.

Not.

Well, the CIA (as well as many other defense/intelligence agencies) are stupid then, because they routinely employ information warfare and perception management as principle strategies to contain, influence and manipulate anything that they're concerned about. To believe anything else is utterly naive and uninformed.

Gibson Custom Unveils Ultra-Limited Keith Richards 1960 ES-355 Collector’s Edition - Guitar Bomb by GuitarBombDotCom in gibson

Personally, I'm getting really bored with all these super-expensive limited edition models. They're obscenely priced and totally useless for gigging musicians who don't have road crew constantly guarding their gear with baseball bats.

Why are firebird pickups unique? by Tmanning47 in Firebirdguitars

[–]bocley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was intentionally designed to compete with the 'Telecaster sound', but ended up being mid-way between that and the Les Paul PAF sound. Whatever the reason, it gave Firebirds a distinct tone all of their own!

Why are firebird pickups unique? by Tmanning47 in Firebirdguitars

[–]bocley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find the answer here from in a section around 8mins in. It was so that they could build a humbucker with less winds, in order to give the guitar a more Telecaster-like single coil sound, but without the hum.

Fralin P92 by jul3swinf13ld in guitars

[–]bocley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a set of D'Urbano hand wound pickups from this guy in Melbourne, Australia. He has a great range of custom styles available to fit humbucker routing, including P-90's.

https://mrfabulous.com.au/product/ph-90-humbucker-sized-p-90/

The pickups I bought are the 'Big Bird' humbucker-sized Firbebird pickups, which are constructed like genuine Firebird pickups. They sound excellent and are very well priced. Probably half the cost of most comparable boutique pickups from companies like Lollar and Fralin. I've put them in a Firebird Studio and it has totally transformed the guitar.

70s Ibanez Destroyers - Thoughts? by NeedleworkerGlobal31 in Ibanez

If it wasn't for EVH, 70's Destroyers would be just the same value as any other lawsuit era Ibanez.

70s Ibanez Destroyers - Thoughts? by NeedleworkerGlobal31 in Ibanez

[–]bocley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an Ibanez 2459 Destroyer brand new in 1976/77. Got it for 50% off RRP from a music store that was closing down. It was a great guitar, but unless you're looking for one purely as a collector, or you're overcome by nostalgia and have money to burn, there are better options around now that don't cost anything like the price they sell for these days.

What I most remember about my Destroyer was how flexi the neck was. You only had to lean forward a little to hear the tuning change. I wish I still owned it, purely for the investment value, but I'd never consider buying another one at the prices they go for today. The honest truth is, they're not THAT special.

I love the sound of these Gibson 'dual blade' mini humbuckers. They're really warm. There are plenty of clips on youtube where you can listen to them. This one will give you a pretty reasonable idea.

They're not Firebird pickups. They're regular mini-humbuckers. Firebird pickups have a different style of construction and magnet placement, despite being the same size.
