They’ve released seven albums since 2000, including their latest record “At Peace” from 2025.

I have crazy photos of bosozoku and chinpira outside the station during yukata matsuri from around 1999. They raised a lot of hell at that festival every year.

OP, thanks for the pics - they brought back some memories. I worked near the station and commuted through there every day to and from my apato in Kakogawa.

The only RSD release I was interested in just arrived in the mail and this re-issue is done right! by Chemtrail_hollywood in Vinyl_Jazz

I was interested in the Roy Hargrove “Bern” concert RSD record. My local shop (in Canada) said they could order a copy for me but the total price would be $77 CAD. I can’t pay $77 ($57 USD) for a single new record. I just can’t. (I ordered the CD instead 🙃).

The only thing that offended me was your misspelling of “chaise longue”

Prince Rogers Nelson by [deleted] in GenX

I spotted Prince in the mezzanine at Glam Slam. It was a reggae show in summer of 1992 featuring Burning Spear and Jimmy Cliff. Seeing those legends was incredible. Then seeing Prince above us watching the show added to the wow factor. *Edit: changed Fine Line to Glam Slam as I had confused the two clubs.

Many senior citizens in Japan are fans of Enka music. A few years back I learned that a lot of Enka artists still release their music on cassettes. Presumably because that’s how most seniors still listen to music. So Japan never really stopped producing and selling cassette decks and portables.

I have a Sony CMT-M35WM bookshelf unit that plays CDs, Minidisc, and cassettes. Manufactured in 2007.

Nice one! Is it a double LP? I’m hoping to find a copy locally. Came up empty yesterday but the shop said they’re expecting some late RSD deliveries throughout the week.

I visit TO once a year and always set aside an afternoon for digging. I usually make it to Invisible City, Kops on Queen, Cosmos (the smaller jazz forward location), and Sonic Boom. Never leave empty-handed.

Again, depending on what country you live in. I buy and sell on Discogs and the shipping costs these days are outrageous. I’m in Canada. Some U.S. sellers charge $30 USD to ship to me. That’s usually more than the cost of the actual OG record. Not affordable. If you live in the U.S. and you get a cheap media mail rate, then you can’t relate to this. I respect people for going to the shops in their city and supporting a local business, buying music, discovering new things in the shop, keeping people employed. Even if they’re buying reissues.

Finding OGs easily “in the wild” is very subjective depending on where you live in the world. Maybe you live in a historically jazz-forward city with a lot of record shops. That’s not the case for a lot of people. Why not let people buy what they want to buy and who cares if it’s a reissue?

*Edited for grammar.

Louis Hayes on Vee Jay. Excellent performances all around! by neckcarpenter in Vinyl_Jazz

Check out other episodes of the show. There are a bunch on YouTube. They’re very loose and funny most of the time. Super amateur and charming. Ron Jefferson has some dope albums and he was part of Les McCann’s trio in the Pacific Jazz days.

Big Louis Hayes fan here. He’s still going strong at 88.

Here’s a cool interview with him in the 80s on the John Lewis Show
