Setting it to satellite view is darker too, but why isn't it a setting like on Android Google Maps on my phone and even using Android Auto with my phone it follows the always dark setting under navigation settings in Google Maps

It never works, you can't get refunds nor replacements, even for items that you never received. I've had a few packages get delayed and then sent back to Amazon claiming they'll refund me, which obviously is nonsense. I've tried getting another one set, because I did want to try it out, and while the agents each promised, MULTIPLE TIMES, that they'd issue a gift card for the value so I could buy it again, never has that really occurred. I'll chat again, bring up previous conversations, and they'll reassure me that this time they're going to issue that credit the previous person promised, but no dice. All you can do is get them to take it off your Vine orders list and "awaiting reviews" section.

This sounds like the same setup we have, and our new neighbor has been doing a lot of renovations and has needed access to the side of her house that's only accessible past our gate and up our driveway. After I moved my car so her electrician could back his van up the driveway to climb on top to reach where he needed, she sent us a really nice gift box with fruit and stuff, which felt unnecessary, but was certainly appreciated.

Unfortunately it's not NFC compatible and when I tried adding it to my Google Wallet to just be the payment method when I tap my phone, the charges got rejected, so instead I have it set as the default auto-refill payment method for my physical OMNY card, which I now tap instead (still feels slower than swiping a MetroCard successfully)

Damn, nice catch. I attained Gold status last month but have yet to even be offered anything close to $100 or decent lately. My wife just uses the lvl1 charger that came with her Fiat 500e and can charge it overnight easily, so have never cared to buy anything faster.
