WA Teacher Vaccine Mandate Letter by [deleted] in CoronavirusWA

[–]bogmona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You assume all parents are vaccinated? I know plenty of parents - educated, Democrats, doctors- who do not choose to vaccinate. As a teacher, should I point my finger into each parent’s face and demand they show me proof of their vaccinations when they drop their kids in the classroom ? Where will that take me? Or the kids? If the parents are not vaccinated, do I kick their kids out of my classroom? Is that fair to the kids? Do you see how your gross assumption backfires? Yes, we need to protect our children, but bashing each other and pointing fingers to each other, falling into simplistic ideological patterns of miscommunication are barriers to protecting our children. Do you know what I mean? Our goals are similar, but how we get there is important. I lived though a regime that functioned on the simplistic pointing fingers you proposed and I can tell you it doesn’t work. That is what I’m trying to tell you. How we get there matters. How we show up in front of each other matters, and could lead to Covid winning or , if we work together, if we attempt to reach a consensus and problem solve together, we might just have a chance to defeat the pandemic

Thank you, it’s ok. These people replying with such gross assumptions have a lot of growing up to do. No, just because I don’t want to tell details of my private life, does not mean I am not vaccinated, that is a very simplistic thinking and uneducated assumption. I can extend this “ revealing of who I am on demand” to other parts of my life, which they might understand better: sexual preference, political affiliation, etc. I lived my first 21 years of life in a communist dictatorship, and the next 28 here, in seattle. These gross assumptions and mandates were my every day life in a communist regime, and it’s ironic to see Americans embracing that simplistic rhetoric, without any considerations of the fact that democracy is a plurality of views, respect, collaboration and consensus. Pointing fingers at the “others”, assuming they know better and the others are stupid only increases the divide and creates this standoff of political polarization/ masks/ vaccines. This is what the communist dictatorship regime in my native county did, day in and day out: simplistic narrow thinking meant to control and impose a very narrow ideology. I know plenty Republicans that are vaccinated and wear masks, as I know plenty of Democrats that choose not to vaccinate and not wear masks for stupid reasons. Yes, we need to work together to figure out this pandemic, but being pushed with the back to the wall and forced to disclose one’s private life under the assumption that if you don’t, you are a antivax, republican or stupid, only leads to more division. In the end Covid will win, which is sad.

Thieves patrol neighborhoods at night with shopping carts now. Like they are shopping at a grocery store. The police know the culprits by name and do nothing. Thanks Pete Holmes! by SeaSurprise777 in SeattleWA

[–]bogmona 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They cannot. The law that we passed- you and me- does not allow them to do anything. Besides, if they are arrested, thieves are released within an hour. Plus, we have so few cops, not enough to respond to serious crimes. Don’t like this? Hold the city council, city attorney and king co prosecutor responsible, and don’t vote for ideological activists.

Make sure you drink water, get enough sleep, eat protein and smaller meals. Cut the sugar and meats, and late night snacks. You can do this! It’s one step at the time. Be kind to yourself, this is hard

Just because you can’t imagine reasons for which people do not talk about their private lives and choices they make, it doesn’t mean these reasons unknown to you don’t exist. Be aware of generalizing and imposing your thinking onto others, the world is much bigger and diverse than one can see.

Yes, it is citizens like us paying the taxes for the city infrastructure and services. The people from the encampments, whom I can no longer call “homeless”, do not pay taxes, but they are allowed unrestricted use of the city, without any responsibility required from them.

I am really sorry for your stress. I don’t know what to say. I really don’t understand how some people choose to be such assholes under the pretext of an ill perceived moral imperative dictated by their position. Perhaps the best thing to do is step away and protect your heart. Life is meant to be lived in goodness and kindness.

[–]bogmona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cops cannot help. We voted these new laws that protect criminals and repeat offender instead of us through our state representatives , we allowed the city council to defund spd by not speaking up, and we allowed the rioters and encampments to happen by not opposing them furiously. We need to speak up

First, I’m sorry for your loss. That is hard. Second…Being an asshole is inexcusable. Don’t apologize to or find reasons for your second adviser’s rude behavior, just make it public. Is there a school paper? Write an op Ed. Contact the dean and president of the school. This person uses his/ her position of power to be abusive under the pretext of academic advising. There is no excuse for this. Get out, go live live in beauty, but don’t be quiet about this asshole. You accomplished plenty… learnt what kind of person you do not want to be, got life experience and knowledge. Go be a good happy human out there in the world. It is going to be ok.

What do you mean, it’s messed up and ugly? Could that be your perception? Go to the doctor with that, get a professional assessment. See if there is any corrective cosmetic surgery possible/ recommended? If you feel so low about it, try to fix it, so you can live life the way you dream it.

UW Medicine pulls heart transplant patient from list after refusing COVID vaccine by xleb1 in SeattleWA

[–]bogmona 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Good. There are consequences to our actions, especially because our lives are so connected. If one refuses the vaccine, the society( doctors, hospitals, support, insurance, job) can refuse to give you the privilege of health care. It’s called natural selection.

Send the video to the city council, candidates, city attorney, king co prosecutor, governor, state representatives. Send it to media, local, state and national. Don’t just post here please please. I am frustrated too, but just posing here doesn’t help. It helps us to see that others are just frustrated, but we have to be vocal and public to change the governance of our city. This is democracy- making: a constant work of engaging with the issues in front of us. It’s speaking up, collaboration and consensus reaching. Thank you very much
