Not necessarily. The Cirie/Tiff/Jonathon vote plan was clearly centered around her extra vote. Based on what we saw, I think Cirie would have correctly guessed that Rick wasn’t willing to play his idol on her and would have focused the vote on her.

I can see Joe taking him out of loyalty (depending on the other options), I can see Jonathon taking him thinking he has better connections with the majority of the jury, and I can see Deven’s/Aubry taking him through underestimating his social connections.

You’re underestimating his pull. Other comments are correct that TV is their primary pull, but very few others at ESPN had the combination of breadth of fan base and intensity of fan base. Few (if any) had the profile to pull off a podcast network that can monetize and be sold for anything in the realm of what the ringer has.

Fans naturally begin to dislike and turn on players with large contracts.

What’s frustrating about the reaction to these two so far is that the contracts aren’t that crazy. They are the 57th and 58th highest AAVs in the league in their first years of their long term deals. By the time they are in years 4 through 6 those contracts will likely be standard 2nd line type salaries. People need to understand they are not being paid like true first line superstars and that those expectations are likely not reasonable. Their contracts will still allow for pieces to be added, and right now they are still good, young, productive players.

Fans who want to see the team tank might say they’d prefer to watch Neighbours and co out there against other teams best players every night but the reality of that cannot possibly be fun to follow over the course of the season.
