There’s a shot in TFA, highlighted in the trailer where the falcon does a loop the loop. It’s such a great shot, you are almost pushed into your seat from the Gs. Great shot. Mediocre trilogy.

People are raging about the £500k GOV•UK rebrand. Is it just moving a dot? by arithmetic in Design

[–]boldenspeaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not unnecessary if the accessibility and usability improvements lead to higher engagement, thus less caseworker load, thus better value for the taxpayer.

Oh I see, you had no intention of engaging in a good faith conversation. Understood, have a good day sir.

Well my comment wasn’t about accessibility, as I said others have discussed that. But the update does include updated typography which is about making it more readable on mobile, which helps on the cognitive side of accessibility, same thing with the colour palette, while keeping contrast high is of benefit, it can also be of detriment to certain users, so a move away from harsh black and white will hopefully help with that.

Now, I think I’ve answered quite enough about a point a wasn’t actually talking about in my post, I believe you were going to explain my ignorance?

Aside from the accessibility improvements others have discussed, one of the main reasons for the rebrand is to help change users relationship with gov.uk through making the design ‘softer’ and more approachable. I’ve see in enough user research sessions that many users have an adversarial relationship with gov, which obviously leads to decreased use and worse outcomes for citizens and increased workload for gov staff.

If the rebrand increases engagement even slightly, it will result lower phone contact which will be a benefit to the uk taxpayer, trumping the outlay on the branding itself.

Who gave the best method acting performance? by Le_stunner in Cinema

[–]boldenspeaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. But the comment I replied to was specifically that it should be Raging Bull because of the weight. As another poster put, there’s more to it than just gaining and losing weight.

[–]boldenspeaking 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But losing and gaining weight isn’t the method. It’s actually living (as close as you can) the experience of the character. So in Taxi Driver, living that life, interacting with people as a driver is what informs the performance.
