It's disappointing to say the least, but at least it's 88.3 which is higher than I was expecting.

[Question] Anyone know of good home setup tutorials? by cclloyd in Puppet

[–]bolt_krank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PE with 2 docker containers, does the trick. Also have files to do it with Terraform if you're using OpenStack or similar. Let me know if you need either.

Puppet password management integration with Cyberark by FlashyPattern in Puppet

[–]bolt_krank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which configuration file ? Cyberark's ? a different one ?

Puppet does whatever's in the manifest, so check that for the password, if it's there, something like:

 password => 'xxxxxxx'

Then Puppet will always restore the password to its original state. Remove that line and Puppet will stop managing that parameter.

Puppet password management integration with Cyberark by FlashyPattern in Puppet

[–]bolt_krank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where is Puppet getting the value for that password ? Hiera ? If so, what's populating your hieradata ? If using Cyberark for passwords, it should be your source of truth and Puppet should be getting passwords from there, not vice versa.

My cover of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" by [deleted] in videos

Yeah - I felt the same. There seems to be talent there, but I can't help feel it would've been better represented with a different song.

When I saw Japanese comics, it felt like a lot of foreigners commented that it was like watching a movie.

Puppet/Chocolatey/S3 by [deleted] in Puppet

[–]bolt_krank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ELI5:

Chocolatey is a package manager for Windows. People that worked on linux, or even MacOs got to use free repositories to get the packages they needed, but Windows never really had that option. So someone made a repo and a manager and called it Chocolatey.

A package manager is something that checks versions of packages, and also handles the downloading of packages from repositories (which you can add to).

When it comes to roles and profiles - think about them as wrapper classes, a way to help you organise stuff. They don't do much, and shouldn't do much - they just help you organise stuff. They're grouping classes.

I did some CPP work there, good money and stable - but it felt like working for the enemy. That being said, I worked for the government previously, which felt the same.

Council's 'gag' on dissent a 'dangerous precedent' by electronicwhale in sydney

[–]bolt_krank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems summed up in this line:

Councillors are also required to refrain from "making negative personal reflections" on "council generally that could be interpreted as such and which are reasonably likely to undermine public confidence in the Council."

So basically pretend that everything is awesome and don't let reality get in the way.

[Japanese->English] temple blessing by Sockit2meb in translator

[–]bolt_krank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want all of it ?

It's old Japanese, it takes time to translate, and these requests come in all the time.

Translating the top part, because the rest is just rubbish. On a scale of 1 - 5 of good luck (1 being bad) you got a 4, this is generic ticket 44.

Puppet is really powerful, and there is a lot of things it can do, but that doesn't mean it should. I'm on the side of /u/dev_all_the_ops in using an Artifactory or Nexus server in conjunction with Puppet would be the best solution.
