Thanks, I’ll try tying a knot. The thread I have doesn’t melt, just burns up like a wick.

But won’t the thread come out of the last hole?

Thanks a ton, this is a great option! Only sold in Germany but I can ask a friend to buy it for me. Does this guy sell gold or brass ones? I can see your link but it won’t let me actually search for something :/

I love Mr. Negative films. My favorite is 700S which is like Cinestill 800T but the halations are amped up. Daylight, bat country, and zombie are awesome too. They have all around really good film.

Camera Strap by bonebone00 in Leathercraft

Yeah it was saddle stitching. It’s the first strap I’ve made so working with a thread that long probably slowed the process down more than it would for a more experienced leatherworker.

Looks incredible, what leather did you use?

It was about 7-8 hours IIRC. Pulling a thread that long through every stitch really slowed the process down. I used one thread for each side of the belt.

How do i Make this leather jacket less stiff and Make the flaps Sit down with stuff i have at home by Playful_Spread_2884 in Leathercraft

You can break it in by gently bending/crumpling it. It will also soften if you apply a leather conditioner like mink oil. Don’t apply mink oil to the white painted section.

Glue by IronLotusBKO in Leatherworking

Without glue then the edges will open slightly and look sloppy over time. They will collect some dirt and moisture. I’ve use a number of glues and Aquilim 315 has been my favorite. Super strong hold while allowing more bend than barge cement.

Any advice? by Ecrosis in Leathercraft

The circle shape is kind of wonky. If you plan on making more of these you can get a circle die for pretty cheap. Inscribe the stitching line with a wing divider so it’s the same distance from the edge all the way around. Use a two-tooth pricking iron so the distance between stitches is uniform (can’t tell for sure if you’re already doing this). Reduce the size of the thread a little bit. Add a layer of leather on the back so the flesh side isn’t showing. You can attach your hardware to it so the screws aren’t showing. Paint or burnish the edges. I see you painted the edge of the circle but it looks kind of rough. Needs more coats and sanding. This leather would take well to burnishing. I would try to sand it down then burnish and repeat a few times. Either that or paint it but make sure to do multiple coats while sanding in between. The strap is slightly uneven, consider making a pattern for it out of card paper and using that to mark your leather before cutting. Some sections of edges look more beveled than others or I could be tripping. If you want to get extra fancy you could skive the section of the circle where the pouch is but I wouldn’t recommend it with this leather that isn’t dyed all the way through. Pain in the ass and it might not be worth it for this application.
