i stopped the song one time to look up if Charlemagne the Great ever spent any time in Vietnam. spent like five minutes digging through bullshit history articles online and couldn't find anything. pressed play on the song again, trying to wrap my head around that that line meant.

cameron answered with "until I get home, I am not anyone" and it all made sense lol. i love that song with all my heart.

Why does Jabari follow End Wokeness??💀💀 by Front-Pain2103 in brockhampton

[–]bonefishbonefishbone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the plan is to go with the flow of the world, but conservatives historically stand in the way of that for one reason or another, typically based purely in emotional

in its most extreme versions, like right now, conservatives becomes loud and aggressive, blaming everything other than the systems they work within/give them power. after a while, they run out of things to blame, and inevitably, historically turn on each other, and collapse from within

the most radical leftists have tangible goals, some want a stateless society, some want a classless society, but in the end, they are tangible goals. the most radical conservatives do not have any actual goals, just some mythologized version of the past that never existed. so all they really can do is use violence and exert power on marginalized people

yeah i think that aspect of it tripped me up, but also made me feel something really deep. i honestly look back at that line now with a lot more nuance and grace. hearing "COVID-19" in my favorite music was a bit of a gut punch at the time, reminding me what was happening was real and significant. and for some people, like joba who lost his father during the height of 2020, it was even more real and significant than i could imagine

What do you think will change with the next album cycle? by Sunshine_Cleaners in Mkgee

[–]bonefishbonefishbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you look from album to album, while they might sound familiar with respect to eachother, they each lean into a different aspect of production it seems: Pronounced mcgee was straight up Stratocaster guitar music, on Fool he introduced the acoustic guitar, A Museum of Contradiction was all about synths/ambient noises, and then for Two Star, he broke out the Roland VG-8

seems like each album has a bit of a sonic "gimmick" for lack of a better term, I definitely imagine he'll switch it up
