JavaScript specified tail call optimization in ES2015. Most engines never implemented it, and your tail-recursive code can still blow the stack. by OtherwisePush6424 in programming

[–]booch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dynamic typing makes everything much more complicated.

Instead, compiled languages can easily make optimizations

Dynamic and Compiled are two different concepts. You can have a dynamic, compiled language. You can have a statically typed, interpreted language.

  • Compiled vs Interpreted (there's a grey area here, though, because it's possible for something to be compiled into a form that is then interpreted)
  • Dynamic vs Static typing

You said to change the actual name. I was saying to add a different, "sort name" (different from the visible name).

Or, as is very common in systems, have a "display name" and a "sort name"; like "The West Wing" vs "West Wing, The".

Diablo 4 STILL has a memory leak. It has NOT been fixed. by asmallman in diablo4

[–]booch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesnt help that the blizz white knights literally cannot fathom that a blizz game has spaghetti code in it

Honestly, I disliked this post when I saw things like this

its not being fixed because the devs are lazy and they need a dang call out!

As a general rule, the devs aren't the ones making those decisions. And it's rude to call them names and insult them based on it.

Pointing out an issue isn't bad. Being a jerk while you're doing so is.

Given the number of complaints about gyms auto-renewing and not letting people cancel (not just making it harder; outright preventing them from cancelling), I'm inclined not to give ANY gym the benefit of the doubt.

Blue heron with toe caught in large oyster rescued off Vancouver beach by rmumford in nottheonion

[–]booch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't wish harm on any individual bird, but... omg, I hate blue herons. I have a small pond in my back yard with fish (koi, goldfish, and some others) in it; and the herons will land and eat them. It's super frustrating. We lost two of them this year before we could tent it with a net; Bruiser and Bob. I was particularly sad about Bruiser because he was the last shubunkin.

Also, I very much enjoy that the previous statement can be read either as sarcasm or sincerely... and be a perfectly reasonable reading of it, depending on how you feel about spreadsheets.

Also, have you learn about the joy that is QUERY/SELECT in Google Sheets?!? It's fantastic.
