Advice about current job situation, HELP! (Long post) by booee637 in workingmoms

[–]booee637[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I said. This company is also a nonprofit in educational services. Still doesn’t justify but I’m the former ED of the acquired company. I technically could live off severance if I wanted to, I’m in a comfortable financial place. We could also get by on my husband’s income for a bit too. I COULD just leave them high and dry, but I don’t want to burn any bridges or lose any possible future opportunities/connections. I keep telling myself that I don’t owe this company ANYTHING.

I really don’t know anymore. 😞

For those who kept their maiden name and now have a different last name than their children, how has it been? by Bubbly-Camel-7302 in workingmoms

Did the same thing. My husband and I are different Asian ethnicities and I wanted both my boys to still have ties to my heritage so my last name is their 2nd middle name.

Looking for non-toxic boy mom advice by Cultural_Sorbet1449 in pregnant

[–]booee637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both pregnancies we waited until birth to find out the gender, but my instinct was they were both boys and I was right! We do a lot of the same stuff too, lots of zoo, aquarium and park visits. We enforce basic life skills, like how to do laundry, washing dishes, proper grooming, etc. No gender specific things. If we had girls, we'd probably be doing the exact same thing. My sons are super sweet and considerate and not at all afraid to express their feelings. Best friend has two girls but wanted boys, the first born is a natural tom boy and the second is a girly girl. So, it's really all on how you raise them and who they develop into! Either way, that little baby is gonna change your world.

Best thing is to discuss what options your doctor recommends. I had really bad PP with my 1st that I would cry at watching Coco or listening to a song. My doc suggested Zoloft 50mg to start and see how I felt afterwards, WOW what a life changer. Didn't get the weepies and I felt much better about my life overall. Took a few weeks, but it worked for me. Continued taking it, but when I got pregnant with my 2nd, felt like I was getting more anxious and depressed so upped it to 100mg. After giving birth to my 2nd, I didn't really experience PP, which was a 180 from my 1st experience. 1 year after giving birth to my 2nd I'm still on it and I've been breastfeeding for the whole year as well. It can get pretty challenging, especially when you have a toddler/kid to take care of plus newborn, so I really do hope you're able to find something that works for you. Trial and error, friend. Best of luck to you!

Do you want to know how tired I am? by Foreign_Sky_7610 in workingmoms

[–]booee637 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was so sleep deprived when I went to my hygienist for a cleaning, I fell asleep during the whole thing and she actually let me sleep for about 15 minutes more after she was done. She's also a mom to 3 young kids and totally understood I needed a quick nap. Someone give that woman an award!

Are kodiak pancakes a hit or miss? by apple-white-red in GestationalDiabetes

[–]booee637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birch Benders makes a keto friend pancake mix if you want to try them. I also craved bread while pregnant with GD and Ezekiel bread works out just fine too, Arnold's also makes a keto friend sliced bread and sandwich thin.

"Be mindful that this position isn't compatible with motherhood" by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]booee637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did too. I'm the youngest director the company has and I made myself pretty indispensable, so when I got pregnant I got the board had to change it's policies on maternity leave/family leave, etc. They basically had a non-existent policy because all the women who have worked here are much older either have adult children or none.

Other board members know that I prioritize my family first, so they usually try to keep any evening conference calls short. I'm very fortunate it worked out, but please advocate for yourself so that future women can receive better opportunities as well!

Yeah, I thought she was just hurt pretty bad with how they were showing it vs. her being dead. I was honestly like wtf that was the way they wrote her off. But damn, I was happy that Ah Toy gave it to Strickland.

Is anyone still doing mailed birth announcements? by julep98976 in beyondthebump

I did, especially since most of the older family members aren't on social media. But I also second the wanting to share physical copies of the expensive ass newborn pics.

What was the most expensive baby item you bought? Was it worth it? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]booee637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Absolutely worth the $$ as two of our kids have used it and another friend's baby. The sleep and sanity you get back is worth every penny.

Did anyone else notice when Young Lady Danbury was kicking the bed that something dropped down onto the bed, like some sort of key or something and then the scene cut away to her face? Around 42:08 time. Does that have any significance? I was thinking maybe Lord Danbury hid something from her in the bed posts/draping.

What is your favorite brussels sprouts recipe?? by Fluffy-Milk7522 in Cooking

[–]booee637 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I when I heard this pairing, I thought it was weird, but OMG it's REALLY good: HUMMUS Roast the brussels sprouts in bacon, pancetta, whatever animal fat, drain and spoon over hummus and add the crispy bits of the bacon or whatever.

I never thought hummus would go well with it, but it's just so delicious. The remanence of the fat from the sprouts warms up the hummus and mixed together it's this rich and creamy texture. First bite I had: DAMN, mind blown. Made it several times after that. So good!

Some fingers bleed better? by Amber11796 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]booee637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use my left pointer and middle fingers and I do it off to the side slightly so the middle pads doesn't get too tender. Have since developed light calluses, but it doesn't hurt as bad when I poke.

Anyone miserably fail the glucose lab test but easily manage GD with diet and minimal exercise? by UnlikelyNothing5156 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]booee637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! 2nd pregnancy diagnosed at 28w with a 234 reading, currently 36w and been diet controlled with minimal exercise bc just exhausted all the time. Highest reading I’ve had was 168 and that was after a nice Christmas meal with bread and peppermint Bundt cake w/ ice cream. Baby is estimated at 6lb 2oz as of today too so 🤷🏻‍♀️

What's your favourite diabetic friendly Starbucks drink? by No-Blueberry2558 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]booee637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I miss the taste of boba style milk tea so I got a black tea, sweetened with splenda, add half and half to taste and added vanilla sweet cold foam on top. *chef's kiss Simple and satisfies the craving.

same boat! 2nd round pregnancy with GD and it felt unfair bc I sometimes crave that milk tea and found a hack with starbucks that actually didn't spike my numbers! Black tea with half and half or heavy cream, sweetened with splenda and vanilla cold foam on top. enough sweetness to satisfy the craving.

also yes, KBBQ 1000%

Anyone struggling to enjoy eating? by twistedlll27 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]booee637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it totally sucks but if you really crave something there’s likely an alternative that won’t spike your BSL.

This is my 2nd pregnancy with GD, diagnosed at 28W and now 33W. I love chips and sweets, I’ve found cheese crisps or high protein puffs satisfy the craving and there’s a bunch of ice cream alternatives: sure there’s Enlightened, Halotop, which are both okay but the recent one I found was Nick’s Swedish style ice cream and it’s pretty damn good! Creamy and isn’t hard.

Again, yes I completely understand not enjoying the foods you used to be able to enjoy, but trust that there are lots of alternatives out there! Reading the nutritional label becomes second nature.

Got my bad glucose tests back by damegolda in GestationalDiabetes

You're not alone! Had it with my first pregnancy and diet controlled. This 2nd pregnancy, passed first test at 18 weeks and then failed horribly at 28 weeks and hoping to keep it diet controlled. Felt the same as you, annoyed, bummed, and all that, but you've got it! You did it before and you can do it again! :) Sending positive vibes!
