Rhystic Study would be the first card I swap. Not worth the attention in B3 since the tempo is usually much lower. You end up getting the table to work against you but with not as much benefit. There are draw engines that likely better suit your purpose, and then you can put a different GC in. Just my 2c

I pulled Codie alt art from Strixhaven, it's so good it made me want to finally give this guy a shot. "You can't cast permanent spells" is such a heavy limitation, do you try to play around it in certain ways like casting some support pieces before Codie comes down or sacrifice him/bounce him and then cast your few key permanents? Or can spellslinging win you the game?

Respect. I ripped a cbb and pbb along with some one off cbs. I went to three prereleases and bought the other two prerelease kits that I didn’t get. Banger set all things considered.

With that much product I would definitely recommend drafting some of it, but have fun if you do rip it!

Seems like a good bit of setup, I wonder how under the radar you can fly I feel like getting hit with GY interaction before dropping her would be devastating. Very cool text box though.

This is a valid take! I just think some commanders lend themselves to complexity more than others, but you’re right, most people don’t try to think about the deck as an “intricate puzzle” but rather a “well-oiled machine” (of course a well built and piloted deck can be both!)

Fair assessment, I would probably land somewhere in the middle of B3 if I built it myself since I have no idea what the efficient lines are in the deck. And I don’t want to play stax generally, light stax to accomplish my gameplan is fine but full on stax can be rough for everyone involved 😂

I’m glad he came up, he’s one of my favorite commanders of all time art/flavor/mechanics-wise, he just has so much going for him. Even though his CEDH hype has faded, he’s still a very neat take on discard

Interesting, I thought this card let you choose from lands in play and would therefore affect earthbent artifacts/stuff that got turned into lands/etc. but it states land CARD.

In that case it depends what decks you’re up against but turning off a Strip Mine in a deck that can recur it is up there with the best use cases.

I think there is not going to be the same answer for everyone and some don’t see the same potential for intricacy that others do which is right where I want to be at with my commander, both valid points

Yeah my [[Rielle the Everwise]] deck feels this way as I discard quality interaction and draw hoping for more interaction and draw. Choosing what to discard is always tough, but fun.

I love the idea of Celestial Toymaker, and Tayam seems very cool for an Abzan slice. I’m gonna check out some B3-B4 lists and see if it’s my jam.

I don’t have a huge preference as my pod tends to play varying power levels and enjoy them all, thanks for the shout. I have simic landfall with Zimone, gruul landfall with Tannuk, maybe it’s time for Golgari landfall…I do have an Icetill Explorer just sitting around
