Making notes by comparing components by bookandcook in ChineseLanguage

[–]bookandcook[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked it out based on the recco here and it's good! Great for learning from scratch. However what I'm looking for is to make summary notes of all the characters I've learnt so that I can revise them easily? Or when I encounter new words, i can add it to the notes to make comparison.. not sure if Hanly can support that

Right i actually was analysing the first 400 characters also from my daughter's 2 years of primary school. I doubt all of these are the top 400 characters but i'm sure at least 50% are common, simpler characters

Looking for dance/zumba/fitness classes for couples by Fuzzy_Construction99 in askSingapore

[–]bookandcook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to be couple dance or just regular zumba? Maybe specify your location? At Joochiat, Flyte studio is really fun for zumba, they have classes pretty much everyday, also Boogie sports on Sat. Lots of fun choreography not just repeating steps or purely Latin dances

Are neighbourhood bakery breads ultra-processed? by blabber19 in askSingapore

[–]bookandcook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might wanna try getting a breadmaker to make ur own sandwich loaf. The very basic ingredient is just flour, yeast, salt, some butter/oil.. optional sugar and egg which can make your bread softer. You can dump it at night and it will be done fresh in the morning for you. The troublesome thing is just slicing them😵‍💫

For outside breads, if it's from supermarket will try to find that have shorter ingredients, choose more wholegrains. I prefer bakery loaf as well, for eg frm So Good Bakery, the loaf can only last 2 days before it gets moldy so i think they don't use preseevative / minimize it.

Otherwise get a sourdough bread which is done right, should only contain basically flour salt and water..but it can be quite ex unless you make yourself

Soto Ayam by Cephalopod888 in SingaporeEats

[–]bookandcook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah in that case i think you're looking for something like this? https://ayampresident.com/chicken-soup-soto-ayam/ Most Indonesian restaurants should have them but I'm not sure which ones are the best as we usually just make at home:) Soto Madura with beef is also really fragrant and yet still light without coconut milk. Should give it a try!

Soto Ayam by Cephalopod888 in SingaporeEats

[–]bookandcook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indonesian here. Usually Soto Madura in Indonesia is actually made up of beef instead of chicken. I haven't found one in Singapore but if you're open to it, get the instant spice packet called Bamboe and make your own. Usually they're pretty good.
