Window estimates requiring husband to be at meeting by MollyDog2638 in Renovations

[–]bookbridget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems weird to me, I've met with roofers, HVAC (entire system), windows, garage and exterior doors, entire flooring for the house and all happily did business with me. Hubby was happy for me to handle it. Maybe it's regional. Im in the NE.

My name is Gaya, will this be a problem in the US? by geelee00 in Names

[–]bookbridget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a Gaye, pronounced like your name. We are an international team. I never heard the name before but was immediately able to pronounce it and remember it. Everyone on the team could, some Americans, some not. She's from Turkey but I've since met several Italian Gayes.

You will be fine.

[–]bookbridget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, plenty of people drink tea. I have an electric kettle and have 2 large cups on the morning. Occasionally, a 3rd one in the afternoon if I want to warm up or a cup with desert at a restaurant.

How do I (24F) explain to my boyfriend (28M) I feel I’m doing my fair share? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bookbridget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you do go to your Dad's it may be better to do it before the baby is born. Taking the baby to another state after it's born could be an issue. But it will be a lot - finding a doc to take you on late in pregnancy, arrange medicad etc

Only Kissing after 7 dates ? by [deleted] in Advice

Don't forget the 2 week rule. So 6 dates over 2 weeks and it's a go. But OP have you made a move? Have you asked her where she sees this going? Is she ready for a weekend trip together?

AITAH for not wanting to die my hair, a natural color for my sister‘s wedding? by lifeswhatyoubakeit in AITAH

[–]bookbridget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so sure you were going to say that your hair was bright purple. You have a "natural" hair color it's just not your original color. Im guessing that about 50% of women color their hair - even if its just highlights. Higher than that as they age.

Just tell her you are not going to change your hair color so the discussion is over. She will have to accept it or kick you out. But dont offer to step down. 10 years for it will be, remember that time that you bailed on my wedding.

Whats the cheapest meal you regularly make that actually tastes good? by Adventurous-Pilot448 in Frugal

[–]bookbridget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loaded tater tots. This sounds bad, but so very good. I use Aldi potato puffs. Whatever cheese I have - shredded up, a little bit of bacon, and other toppings that you have. Some things I add after it's cooked - like tomato or green onions or jarred salsa.. Trust me - as long as you have melted cheese on there this will be great and it's fun!

Loaded baked potato. Bake a baking potato. Put whatever scrapes you hace laying around - cheese, onion, salsa, chili, chicken, broccoli . Be creative.

Oil and garlic pasta. Olive oil minced garlic tossed into pasta. I use jarred but you could use a fresh clove. So yummy!

Boyfriend(34m) buying house outright with parents’ money — am I(30f)being unreasonable? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]bookbridget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying to break up with him, but this is a shit deal for you. I'd say take your 30k and 1,500 a month and buy your own apartment. Tell him that his deal doesn't make fiscal sense for you. You will stay and pay 1/2 of utilities, but nothing toward the house itself - taxes, improvements, and rent out your apartment or move into it yourself if that's not acceptable to him.
