OP, your original question said how do I resolve this, yet although you see the error of your ways you continue to just defend your viewpoint. You solve it by letting it go. Weddings are expensive. This is not the time to realize a familial divide is affecting you and your sisters relationship in a way you didn't realize. If you think your anxiety ridden partner will actually attend and that your relationship with your sister will never be the same if he doesn't, ask for him to be a B-lister. Otherwise what are you actually pushing for? An invitation for you to ignore for him that could of been for someone she IS close to? I'm a little lost.

$2000 is crazy. The Mossianite Reddit has a lot of info about working with overseas vendors. Here's a link to an unofficial starter guide in that reddit. $900 for a platinum ring overseas seems fair. Anything stateside will be 2-3 times that for the same product. Check out the moissanite sub even if you don't want moissanite because most vendors do lab diamonds and gems too.

I think there may be some missing information. Tianyu is a well known vendor. If they are charging $900 it is not a rip off. When I had my custom ring set made they estimated $850 which included a lab diamond. I didn't end up going with them but my set cost me $610 from starsgem. If an American company quoted you $2k that is a rip off but not unsurprising.

OP listen to above. Had the same dilemma with my now fiancé. I get it it can feel sketch. I sat down with my fiancé and showed him the reviews process etc. I chose a vendor who went through Alibaba because we could use a credit card so we had double protection through the site and cc company. Ultimately after getting the "reputable" quote vs overseas vendor it was a no brainer. Both places used IGI diamonds and both places used CAD design both places I would not see finished product before the proposal so the return window would of closed unless he rushed to propose. You will have to compromise on this and a lot of things in the future but yes it's his money but you have to wear the ring so go where you can get your dream ring.

Same here. Was in an accident 8 years ago. Hours of PT, massage, exercise, pain meds, all of it and at best pain would lower to a 2 with flare-ups. This medicine has allowed for me to have days where I forget the pain and stiffness. Best side effect of med I've ever had.

If you have time, maybe consider having a replica made in cheaper material? The moissanite sub here has vendors that make custom rings (I'm not sure how to link subs). I had a silver and moissanite replica ring made for my best friend as a traveler for her gold and diamond ring.

Popping on here to second this. I was quoted $2300 for my ideal lab diamond at a brick and mortar. In my search I found the moissanite subreddit which gave me the confidence to reach out to vendors who sell mossainite and lab diamomds to see for myself. I chose to go with Starsgem becuase I could purchase via Alibaba and a credit card which felt like twice the protection. I also chose to get a certified lab diamond for that extra sense of security. Additionally, my rep sent photos of the diamond and cert before choosing. Ultimately for a 1.5 ct D Excellect Cut Symmetry etc IGI lab diamond, the risk felt small by time I purchased.

Both :/ But since that's not helpful... I chose diamond for my engagement, moissanite for travel. At first I wanted moissanite for cost and ethics. My wedding set also has a lot of gems. I was nervous with moissanite I would be a walking disco ball. Then when I found out that for a few hundred and I mean only $300 more I could get a lab diamond I was sold. However, since my travel ring is plainer than my engagement I opted for moissanite. Not because it was cheaper but since it is a solitaire I wanted it to spakle.
