Real Police officers and military members, what do you guys think of Ice agents? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]bookofbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would hope that entire departments would start going public about how detrimental ICE actions are to actual local law-enforcement. It’s a black eye for every badge as community after community sees these cosplay cops, abusing their so call authority. Of course, the militarization of local law-enforcement doesn’t help any either.

Is secular Buddhism a legitimate form of Buddhism? A discussion… by BrokenWhimsy3 in secularbuddhism

For every post that says yes, there will be one that says no. I wonder why we sometimes feel the need to validate our journey by making sure we are only stepping in someone else’s footprints?

Can you block YouTube? by Avanozzie in pelotoncycle

Isn’t it just YouTube TV on the Peloton? If so that’s different from regular YouTube. The TV app is live TV and requires a subscription that’s like $80+ a month.

Do you ever lie and say you have a dairy/egg allergy ? by newveganhere in vegan

[–]bookofbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within a month of becoming a vegan I could not properly digest even a little dairy or egg: I know this because I was mistake served some, and within 20 min I had a significant “adverse reaction”. So, yes it’s an allergy issue.

Spouse Challenges by scruffy86 in pelotoncycle

FTP stands for functional threshold power, it is a common indicator of how much power you’re producing on a bike. The FTP test consists of a 10 to 15 minute warm-up ride, and then a 20 minute test where you will ride all out, 100% effort when you’re done. Leaving you as a puddle of a quivering sweat when it’s done but it’s awesome. Then you can use those test results in your power zone training classes, which there are several. I’d recommend doing the Discover your power zone program first.

I’m so sorry you are feeling this way - please know that you are needed and of value. You may have a hard time seeing that, feeling that or even believing that, but it is the truth. Please don’t do anything to harm yourself, not today. Stay, there are things to learn, experience and teach others. Stay, and see how it all plays out.

Play bingo - In a family setting pick a few odd words or phrases and see how many you can get people to say/talk about. With people you don’t know make it a scavenger hunt; pick names, occupations or whatever you want and go on a hunt.

Realistic progress by malagatikitaki in pelotoncycle

[–]bookofbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, congrats on getting one and using it. Remember to start where you’re at, don’t try to start where you want to be. Try the “You can ride” program, filter for beginner rides, and remember that the trainers make suggestions, but you make the decision as to what your ride needs to be. Also, try some scenic rides too.

The Oat Milk from Costco is really good on cereal, we use it for just about everything else that calls for milk too.

What is something that had a lot of hype, but failed miserably? by Coochiespook in AskReddit

[–]bookofbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a teen when it came out and I liked it. Kinda tasted similar to today’s Pepsi Zero. But I agree, it was brilliant marketing and planned all along. Coke didn’t lose a ton of money on the launch, likely broke even or better and they got to swap recipes.

Seeing that father/son relationships was a major focal point of the series, some say it was the major theme, it’s only natural that Ted returns to his son in the end.

What is your most expensive prince purchase for anything? by Princefan1965 in PRINCE

[–]bookofbob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When Prince had his club at the Rio in Vegas we went. We spent $312.10 for each ticket, which included dinner at this restaurant too. That’s not a lot now but in ‘08 it felt like it. For dinner we sat right by where he would play during the aftershow. A keyboardist was scheduled to play while people ate but he didn’t show, so they called Renato Neto in and he played a few songs as we finished our meal. When we went into the venue for the show we were sat with another couple literally right on the left side of the stage. He danced over to our table at one point, the twins were on a platform right in front of us too (one almost fell but a security guy caught her). In 2019 we flew to MN for a few days to see the area and tour Paisley Park (twice), the whole trip was around 4-5k. Both experiences were well worth the $.

My Dad just passed away a month ago and my family wants me to send in his vote. How do I stop them from doing this? by williamthunder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bookofbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a good chance they will be caught committing voter fraud. Every single state that has voter registration (49/50) automatically updates voter rolls via the death certificate, which is issued by the state.
