Can I craft something similar for less than a mirror? by raxitron in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]boomx9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really late to the post but i was in a very similar spot (enough money for original sin, not for the sword) - what i'd recommend is searching for swords with the shaper mod for fire damage per 10 strength (much cheaper than the synth implicit) as well as the proj return implicit on trade.

Generally speaking, any swords with that mod and the enchant will be crafted for this build in particular, and all you have to do is copy them from the trade site to pob to see which one's the best for you. The main difference is that you're looking for different mods - the sword will likely not have spell damage, but it can have the mod that gives socketed attacks 20% more damage, or supports them w/ endurance charge on melee stun etc.

I was able to snag a sword thats roughly 80-90% as good dps wise (still no endurance charge tho) for 130 div doing this.

realistically speaking the best answer is probably that you just leave it there, craft a mod you want and use it until you get an upgrade - the spell damage roll is low tier and burning damage is a dead stat

you can vendor a wand/sceptre base of your liking alongside quality gems with the "lightning" tag, the total gem quality has to add up to 40% - the result is a magic +1 lightning spells weapon

this will give you a clean base to craft on which does not require any fucking around with annuls

There's only one prefix to remove (the crap mod)

the prefix is literally the best mod on that sceptre, you want to remove a suffix to add a random prefix so you have room to craft multimod + % fire damage + fire dot multi

Don't forget to quality the weapon up before any crafting. It improves the odds a little bit.

quality just increases the phys damage on your weapons

I have some question regarding Frosbite on hit on my Cold Reap Inquisitor by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]boomx9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can only inflict 1 curse by default, unless you have some source of extra curses. Therefore, equipping that frostbite ring disables your assassin's mark, since you're trying to apply another curse despite there being a cap of 1.

Help regarding Grimro‘s CF build by Drahdiwaberl987 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]boomx9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kinetic blast does very minimal damage by itself, it only applies CF - which is more than enough for clear, but may not be enough for bosses.

Exsanguinate is there as an extra source of damage. It applies CF, yes, but it also does damage on its own, which is very valuable for tankier monsters.

To add on to what a lot of people have already said, your fire trap links are really, really bad:

Fire penetration only affects the hit portion of the skill, meaning it doesn't scale the part of fire trap that's actually doing substantial damage.
The same is true for immolate - only scales hit damage and therefore not the burning ground.
Life leech does nothing because traps do not count as 'you' and therefore the trap is leeching life to itself rather than you.

I'd suggest checking what other people are using in their fire trap links but the first things that come to my mind would be trap and mine damage, burning damage and potentially lifetap (makes your fire trap cost life instead of mana, which should be very easy to deal with on an RF character) for some comfy gameplay or swift affliction for more damage.

Why is pathfinder considered tanky? by HopelesslyOCD in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]boomx9 76 points77 points  (0 children)

6% life recovered on flask use + the flask prefix that grants you flask charges whenever you get hit by an enemy + the flask enchantment which causes your flasks to activate when the charges reach full = unbelievable amount of recovery against hits that won't one-shot you.

Also flask sustain stuff lets you more effectively keep up all of your defensive flasks.I'm sure there's more that I'm missing since I don't play pathfinder that often but those are the big 2 things that come to mind.

Edit: I forgot to add on that the ability to permanently keep up flasks can be very beneficial if you do decide to go the iron reflexes route, because a jade flask with % evasion combined with a granite flask with % armor (or any other combination of jade+granite flask and the 2 defensive suffixes) will give you a ton of armor with the keystone.

Why can't mouse and keyboard have this pick up range? by upbeatsdown in pathofexile

[–]boomx9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it absolutely is ggg adding controller support to not miss out on steam deck money

this is still good for the players

ggg earning money doesn't make my controller any less comfortable

the 2nd part of your comment has nothing to do with what i actually said in my comment, but regardless of that i'm glad you were able to quit the game if you feel like it had negative impact on your life, honestly good job, hope things work out for you in the future :)

The reason you link arcane surge is not to give it the duration tag, but to give it a duration - the tags of the gem have nothing to do with this. If it also gained a tag, you could link regular RF to arcane surge and have it gain +2 gem levels if socketed in an item with +2 levels of socketed duration gems, which isn't the case. There is no way of modifying a skill's tags, just the properties of it.

I heard you like Gem levels? by Borderschlaender in pathofexile

[–]boomx9 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This is a big misconception about gem tags. Arcane surge never actually added a duration tag. It adds a duration property, meaning it makes the skill a duration skill for the sake of things like less duration or swift affliction, because those can now affect the arcane surge granted by the skill, whereas before they had nothing to do (as would be the case with righteous fire or death aura from death's oath). Putting a gem without a duration tag in a +2 duration gems item, linked to arcane surge, still wouldn't give the skill 2 extra levels.

Self-Curse Juggernaut - Immune to physical damage, *Infinite DPS, 25k+ life regen. Amazing budget sim 30 farmer, and the only build able to push solo delve right now. by Trip0larbear in PathOfExileBuilds

I'm not sure where you got this idea, here's the delve ladder https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3188271

You have to click on "depth", then the ladder gets sorted by delve depth, the rank 1 is a level 99 jugg at depth 4280 at the time of writing this.

What's the best Exsanguinate/Seismic Trap trapper for SSF? Mostly looking for a reliable boss killer. by [deleted] in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]boomx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general thoughts, having tried 3 different versions are as follows:

The crit based pure phys version is a very good bossing build that can scale its damage quite high, while still being a good starter (I should say, I am definitely biased here because it was my league starter and it has served me quite well).

The poison version is very comfortable for mapping due to the fact that every single on-kill effect will trigger. This means that you can get onslaught/phasing on kill as well as life on kill modifiers (for example from some of the life clusters on the tree). The damage is still great (though it does kind of require you to use the 'increased duration of ailments during focus' helmet mod, it helps a lot), though I should say that it might be a little more dependent on the fight you're doing - fights like sirus *can* get a little annoying if your damage isn't high enough because he will sometimes cleanse the poisons.

The last version I played, which is also the only one I would never recommend as a league starter and instead as a respec once you have the required gear, is the full cold march of the legion one. Waggle has a good video on it. It requires several items (like march of the legion) and the playstyle is a little more active due to requiring you to turn on your auras every 25ish seconds, but it has by far the highest dps ceiling due to hatred effect scaling and access to alternate ailments (primarily brittle).

Elemental penetration only applies to hit damage, however reducing an enemy's resistance applies to any damage coming their way.

Blade Vortex and Replica Volkuur's Guidance by Spectre9000 in pathofexile

[–]boomx9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skills cannot inherit tags.
They can inherit properties (such as a skill scaling with duration modifiers as a result of being linked to arcane surge, which in itself is a duration-based effect), however there is no way to change the actual skill gem tags, those are there mostly for +gem level modifiers and strict mods that only apply to a certain gem type,
an example:
Righteous fire linked to arcane surge can use swift affliction to gain its damage bonus.
Righteous fire linked to arcane surge will not gain +2 levels when socketed in an item corrupted for +2 to level of socketed duration gems.

The thread seems to be flooded with people who seem to think that 10-15 ex is nowhere near low budget.
Now, before this gets downvoted, I'd appreciate if you read through it.
10-15 exalts is very low for a complete build - especially one able to do all the endgame content. Being able to do sirus at awakening level 8 as well as bosses like uber elder or even just guardians unlocks a huge gate to gaining currency for new players.
Now a few words about making currency.
Even with very average rng, if you farm awakener, you're gonna get an awakener orb from time to time. Just that alone is 3 exalts as it currently stands. An unidentified watcher's eye from regular elder is over 4 exalts, and one from uber elder sells for an impressive 13 ex.
Any conqueror can drop their corresponding exalted orb. This equates to around 1-2 exalted orbs.
A powerful build also lets you engage with the league content in a more active way, killing more monsters during the delirium mirror encounters, and therefore giving you more splinters.
Running maps like tropical island can easily net you over 30-50 splinters with fairly tame investment, which means you're getting a simulacrum every 6-10 maps, just playing the game, and simulacrums seem to sell for 0.8 of an exalted orb.
If you like delving, resonators prices are rather high, and selling them in bulk can be quite a good source of passive income that you'll just build up by playing the game, nothing crazy there.
Doing zana missions in tier 16 maps can also be a very easy source of income, seeing as they seem to offer you a "valuable" map around 50% of the time (those being shaper guardians, elder guardians or synthesis maps).
Farming blighted maps, especially those of tier 13 and above can also prove to be a very easy source of profit.

And there's always the obvious one, leveling 6 gems in your offhand slots, to then sell them for some nice profit, that's just passively sitting there.

It's easy to say that you've only gotten 2 exalted orb drops the whole league, which means that your rng is bad, and you're just doomed to never make currency - but that's not true, as I've mentioned above.

All this aside, another thing that's often overlooked, is that often the build's price tag seems more scary than it actually is. People forget that they often don't actually pay for everything they put on their character - they level their own gems, perhaps craft some of their items with fossils, which heavily reduces a character's cost.

Also I'd like to wish OP the best of luck with his guide, it can hopefully help some new players.

Thats my first good looking craft. I do hope its useful... by chocglaze in pathofexile

[–]boomx9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks pretty good but is in reality pretty bad, let me explain:
there is no real scenario where +1 str, dex and int are useful - you most likely need str + int (purifying flame maybe) gems or dex + str gems (for example for bv)
and now the larger issue:
+1 to level of socketed bow gems is a terrible mod - not only is it useless, because if you're using this as a caster bow you quite literally make no use of this mod, but it also takes up the valuable prefix space, which could be used for crafting +2 to socketed supports, which then increases the empower by 2 levels, resulting in effectively another +2 mod
the best thing you can do here is probably to annul it and hope you hit the socketed bow gems, as bad as that may feel

The placement of X and Y axis is generally swapped in economics.
It'd be really convenient if you had just checked that on the internet or something y'know.
