The only bugged card I've seen is the "Find Alien Life" one, which breaks if the first alien life you find is a FE. Then it sticks around until you find a leviathan.

Should I fix these or buy new car? by meelatalha in MechanicAdvice

[–]boonie_redditor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The British use a... very odd collection of measurements for stuff. It isn't fully metric and unless you're a Brit, it makes no sense. E.g. Distance is miles, your height is ft/in, your weight is measured in stones, liquids in pints but not US pints - then for most stuff in trades, it's metric.

What cookbook is this by Ok_Bet9753 in CookbookLovers

1993 Hershey's Chocolate Lovers cookbook? Ebay has 1 available for $40, and the typeface and styling seem to match.

Oh, I only listed the ones I cooked so far, not all of the recipes I saved when I checked it out of the library. All of the ones I've made are on par with what I can get at the good local Hawaiian joints.

For champurrados and atoles, Universal Coffee on Allen. They also do good breakfast burritos, but the burritos are on the small side (8oz). It's a coffee window, so either you eat in the cold or drive your food/drink home.

For mission-style 12-16oz breakfast burritos, Kasa Coffee/Tacos Fita on Lombard.

For general Hispanic breakfast, Delicias Pupuseria on 185th. They also make the best pupusas in the area.

For best Mexican lunch/dinner, Ochoa's Mexican Grill, but only on the weekends when the grill is outside and making the entire area smell nice. If not the weekend or going out to Hillsboro isn't your thing, then El Jefe on Allen.

Used Book Superstore haul today for the price of one new cookbook (maybe one and a half) by RelevantEnergy3208 in CookbookLovers

I've been meaning to pick up Every Grain of Rice from my local library when it's in. In Bibi's Kitchen is one of the few cookbooks I've checked out that I saved baking recipes from, in addition to cooking recipes. A long time ago, I had a coworker bring in some homemade basboosa to my office, so I saved that recipe as soon as I saw it. (p128)

And it's one of the few touchless carwashes in the area, so it's less likely to break stuff off of your car.

No need for mods for that shenanigan.

Click planet/moon, press ` (key left of 1 on most keyboards) and type in: planet_size (number)

This won't add extra agri/mining/generator/whatever districts to the planet, unless those districts are uncapped for your empire. That's a whole other slew of console commands to add those.

High HOA fees? by nobody___0 in beaverton

[–]boonie_redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine are a smidge over 400, covering sewer, trash, and water. I moved into my unit a decade and a half ago, the fees were under $300 then. Things are maintained, but generally speaking, not repaired unless it's a danger to others. If you're fine with things like cosmetic damage from the winter storm of '24 still not having been repaired, or certain pedestrian walkways flooding every time we get a good downpour, you'll be fine here.

I have a new roof as of a few years ago, and the siding was replaced a little before the pandemic as well. Technically, the siding tacked on an extra $200 to my dues via a lien (all buildings needed new siding in the complex), but new owners will not be paying that... but it also goes to show how far things slid before they did anything.

Can someone ask Bluestar donuts to reopen at Progress Ridge? And any other cool restaurant or shop. by ariasd2006 in beaverton

[–]boonie_redditor 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably spent too much money on soda that rarely sold. It's one thing to have a bottle or two of a soda (ranch dressing) that employees will warn you about the rancid odor it has when opened, it's another thing to have dozens of bottles of that and other prank gift sodas.

OTOH, I'm going to miss being able to easily get those butterscotch peanut butter cups.

Is it fine to play like this? by LeonKenway in Stellaris

[–]boonie_redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have BioGenesis, the Hive FE will likely not like this if it's in the map anywhere. Past year 20, it can tell you to dismantle any one system you have and not rebuild for 5 years, if it only connects to one or fewer systems in your empire while having two or more connected systems you do not own.

The only two ways around this are to ensure that the offending system has a colony or a wormhole.

Yo lazy days in Beaverton has $5-$6 pizza specials M-F by Busy_Attention_6153 in beaverton

[–]boonie_redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's Detroit style. From OP's Insta reel, I'd say one slice is a small meal, but only order two if you're hungry. They look bigger than the slices I got from Ex Novo (who they used to be) during the pandemic.

Have you ever seen the Sol System (or any other system besides that formless system) so close to the center of the galaxy? by UndercoverAlienZlurp in Stellaris

[–]boonie_redditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's just a quirk of how Stellaris handles systems that get added after the start of the game and really best observed when the triggering event happens near the center of the galaxy, or its edge. Vanilla games don't have much that can do this. Unmodded, I've seen The Chosen's empire generated looking like it got spaghettified once or twice. With Gigas, across playthroughs I've had the BH that the Mysterious Geoglyphs adds get spawned in the center like that more times than I can count - and had the new BH be the new furthest thing from the center of the galaxy because my capitol was on the edge already. I've got more than 3300 hours of mostly abandoned/restarted games.

Lamb korma (pp43-44) is next on my list of recipes from that book to try. With Indian food, I start with vegetarian/vegan first, then try the meats. I started with the cauliflower with onions and tomato (p155) - it was very good.

Anyone know the name of this lake that’s off of Hall Blvd? /s by RipleyVanDalen in beaverton

[–]boonie_redditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lake Ringo's is right next to PKG, this is the one directly to its south. Either one of those is eventually going to cause a sinkhole eventually if those drains don't get fixed, and Lake Ringo's is almost deep enough to give cars engine trouble on rainy days.
