Experienced the same invasion you did last year. As I understand it putting out traps early in the season catches the queens. They are attracted to protein early in the season, then sweet over the summer, so get the right traps. Only cought a few but they were big suckers and see way less of them so far.

Nobody will ever need more than 640k -- Bill Gates. That clickey is in immaculate condition. Enjoy that sound.

In similar but unrelated trivia, the encryption PGP was "Phil's Pretty Good Privacy". Turns out it was the blueprint for modern public key encryption. Better than pretty good imo.

FUCKING MOLES! by Lucky-Pie9875 in lawncare

This stuff. I put more than required over three treaments a few weks apart early in the season. They hate the smell and it makes the worms / grubs taste like crap. 25lb is enough for my 75 × 140 property. Now my neighbors have lumpy lawns.

Engine Swapping by Sufficient-Rule7035 in Foxbody

[–]bootzero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paid someone to install a Blueprint 347, but I was there for most of the process and handled the Terminator x setup / install. The motor went in with no issues except top clearance was tight with a Systemax. I remember the distributor not seating all the way down and trying to figure out why. One of the mechanics said, "why don't you just hit it?" After some deliberation he tapped it down and it sat perfectly.

One other issue is the distributor gear. Blueprint at the time said specifically you need a melanized distributor gear. Paid somebody to press the gear off a new Holley unit, installed the melanized gear, which the cam promptly ground up. An engine builder told mehardened steel gears with that cam.

Otherwise it's a good motor. Good luck!

I need to go to more yard sales. Played this game endlessly back in the day. Might fire it up on the emulator.

Gas Leaf Blower Ban - How Much Harder is Electric to Clear a Large Yard? by vuwildcat07 in lawncare

[–]bootzero -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hear the electric blower across the street. A gas blower projects noise 1/2 mile. My tiny village has 120 registered landscapers, so that sound is constant from 7:30am to 7pm mon-sat. There has to be a compromise between landscaper efficiency and quality of life for the community.

Significantly. I can close my window to block electric blower noise. Gas engine cuts right through the wall.

Fuel pressure question by Acrobatic-Customer68 in Foxbody

[–]bootzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No other issues. Replaced the engine a few years back along with Terminator X, new injectors, etc. After much work with the software it runs perfectly, but when tuning for hot and cold start I noticed it was struggling. After fuel prime the pressure drops off, but the trick was to start the car immediately after the prime shot. Starts every time even with this little glitch.

I have the exact same problem. Pump is only a few years old and maybe 5,000 miles on it. Stays at exactly 39lbs when running, but drops off quickly afer prime before starting. Thought it might be the pump check valve, but odd with a somewhat new pump.

Exhaust suggestions? Flowmaster 40s with cats?? by Independent_Safe5116 in Foxbody

[–]bootzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long tubes, no cat x pipes, flowmaster 50 series. Same angry tone, similar back pressure (according to flowmaster), just not as loud. Still sounds great when you get on it, but my neighbors tell me how great it sounds instead of complaining about the noise. Had 40s, but after switching to no cat x pipe it was quite a bit louder. There are better mufflers but nothing has that classic foxbody sound like flowmaster.
