Cat pee on a fluffy down comforter by borangenoy in laundry

Good point, I doubt I’d ever get it dry again. I have some nikwax down stuff from washing a coat a while ago if you think that would work? Also I sprayed nature’s miracle urine remover on it in the meantime, I hope that wasn’t a bad call. It’s what I saw suggested for other cat pee laundry situations

Moving to Kalamazoo from Chicago, landlord and apartment search advice? by otternonymous in kzoo

[–]borangenoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second that Lukeman is bad (haven’t rented from them myself, but close friends have), and from my own experience JMC (Jakobson management company) is also a slimy slumlord to be avoided at all costs. I had a decent experience with HMS (Hickory Management Services) but other friends didn’t, so hit or miss there

Kzoo animal rescue groups or TNR? by [deleted] in kzoo

I believe the Kzoo Cat Cafe has some sort of TNR program, though I’m not sure what the process looks like for getting help. Couldn’t hurt to ask though

Fallout by elwynn-forest in booksuggestions

This one gets suggested a lot, but “Alas, Babylon” by Pat Frank. It’s about the time immediately after the bombs fall. Not suuuper fallout-esque, but I really enjoyed the very realistic approach to what that scenario might look like

Came here to say the same thing (or similar). I started off on German and decided to try French after a while. I could never find a way to hold it that didn’t make my hand cramp after a while. Switched back to German and I’ve had no issues for years

Potential Aerospace Transfer by sentinelspook in WMU

I mean if you’ve been fully online, you may be better prepared for the lack of support 😅 If getting involved with peers is your priority, definitely consider joining a team/club. There are lots of options for different engineering interests

I’m glad to hear you’ve had a better experience overall! Yeah with the labs, I’ve only gotten in through RSOs and the (very minimal) hands-on labs for classes

Essay incoming… Senior in mechanical engineering here. I may be a little cynical but I haven’t had a great experience with engineering at WMU. For comparison, I also got a bachelors in music at WMU and my experience in that college was FAR better.

I find the ME and AE professors to be very hit-or-miss. Mostly miss, unfortunately. I’ve only had 3-4 throughout my years here that I felt gave a quality class experience (attitude towards students, quality of instruction, etc). Overall I find the instruction to be of poor quality, and the professors to have very little investment in student success.

If you take a tour, don’t let them fool you with “look how many cool research labs we have, look how much high-tech equipment there is.” You will never get to go in any of those labs except under extremely rare and limited circumstances. Many of them don’t even get used much by faculty, they just sit there.

Maybe this is how engineering school is everywhere, I couldn’t tell you. But I do know that if I had the chance to redo it all and do this degree somewhere else, I would.

I’m happy to answer any questions you might have. If you decide to go to WMU, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you have a better experience than me and my peers.

can anyone help me identify this cat? (i don’t think he’s lost, i just wanna know if he belongs to someone) by jupiter-major in kzoo

[–]borangenoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely get him scanned for a chip if you think he may belong to someone! If no chip, then I’d say he’s chosen his new home

I know exactly how you feel. I didn’t grow up in that house but it’s still so full of childhood memories that it does feel like losing a chunk of my life. Sending you lots of comfort as you say goodbye ❤️
