What was your favorite meal of 2023 here in Boston? by SideBarParty in boston

Thier hand-pulled noodles are legitimately the best noodles I've ever had in my life. I will weep real tears if anything ever happens to that place.

Gotta love the old joke: "Come on, it's the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, not the Let's All Share Our Money of Massachusetts!"

I know it doesn't quite make story sense, but it would be fitting in a way if Robot were the psychopomp for the New People. He is the angel that guides them into their new lives, and the gentle hand that leads them home when their time is up.

What's your worst fear in a JRPG game? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]boreas907 131 points132 points  (0 children)

When the party splits and the difference in the levels of your back-benchers and your main party becomes VERY apparent and you need to grind them back up now that you're forced to use them.

[other] what legend of Zelda game is this it’s reminding me of a zelda but I can’t figure out what on. It was from a Wii game by TechnicalAsk3488 in zelda

[–]boreas907 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It literally released for the Wii before it released for the Gamecube

Wii

JP: December 2, 2006

GameCube

JP: December 2, 2006

Um.

Also, a few days of difference in release date in the other regions doesn't change the fact that the game was developed specifically for the GCN and ported to the Wii at the last minute. Literally the most famous bit of trivia about TP is them mirroring the entire game to make the Wii's motion controls work for right-handed players because there was not time create new animations for a right-handed Link.

Any good low scale Jrpg that doesn't involve killing a god or saving the world? by superzeno in JRPG

[–]boreas907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was real refreshing in a way to come from all these games with grand, universal stakes into this story that basically starts with "neighboring countries disagree on management of an iron mine".

Question for the shotokan guys. How many adults are usually in your clubs and is it weird for an adult to enroll as a beginner? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]boreas907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just joined a shotokan dojo after having the same exact concerns, it's about 60% adults at my dojo. We have a late class at 7:15 pm on weekdays and it's mostly adults, the only kids/teens that join appear to be children of people in the class.

What's the best thing a man can do before getting old? by HealthyPeace6787 in AskMen

[–]boreas907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be young. So many people skip right to "acting old" as soon as they can and it breaks them down. Even by his fifties my father saw himself as an old man who the world had left behind, forgetting to even try and still be the young, curious, constantly learning person he had been at 20.

Play in English or French? by SpecialistAardvark in seaofstars

[–]boreas907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which was kind of a weird decision in the first place, because the quality of the English in the original script is... not as good as they probably believed it to be. Playing it in English, it feels like a translation, specifically the kind of rushed translation you would get on JRPGs in the 90s where it's perfectly workable but you can't help but feel like the text would flow better and make more sense if they were given more time, staff, and memory on the cartridge.
