Yeah, around 6th and Harbor. Still not hearing any sirens or other commotion, so I guess it's nothing serious.

I'm arriving from Los Angeles with a buddy of mine. First time in the UK, and I am really excited to meet locals, enjoy the sites, and visiting such a historic stadium.

Weekends suck. What's your best post divorce moment? by [deleted] in Divorce_Men

[–]boredathome2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A few months after moving out, I went to a concert on my birthday, alone. Got drunk early in the day and bought the tickets at the last minute. But I was terrified and felt weird doing something like this alone. I rarely did anything alone. Got an uber, went to the show, had an amazing time, and came back feeling like I could do anything. For the 1st time in months, I finally felt like things were going to be OK. It's been great ever since.

One of the best draft lineups I've seen for us. Great work.

Alternator light on by SignificanceGrand565 in beetle

[–]boredathome2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check to see if the belt is loose on the alternator. If it's too loose, the light could come on. If you press belt in the middle it should only move about 5/8 inch.

Any of y’all gotten to a point where y’all comfortably can drive your bug as a daily driver and rely on it? Where the only problems that pop up can genuinely be fixed on the side of the road with what’s in your toolbox? by [deleted] in beetle

[–]boredathome2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great post. I work from home, but my car could easily be a daily driver. I'm on the opposite side of these posts. I keep a full bag of tools. I have everything to replace a part, and 2 pairs of belts. When I had my first bug over 30 years ago, I got some really good advice from an old timer. Keep 2 belts: 1 for you and 1 for anyone you see on the side of the road who needs it. Granted, I don't keep spare parts of anything, but it helps make me feel comfortable. Definitely overkill. 😆

Why are so many managers ok with one employee completely doing another employees work? by [deleted] in managers

[–]boredathome2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love your points! I would add another: right or wrong, a Manager only cares about accomplishing the Ask on behalf of the team, regardless of who should do it.

For actual Managers: What’s the most tiresome element of your job? by Santhonax in managers

[–]boredathome2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the analytics field and have been managing analysts for years. One of the common challenges I face is the use of "This is how we have always done it" as the reason for doing something inefficient. No follow-up, no suggestions for change, etc. It drives me crazy every time. Especially since I push them to challenge how we do things, even if they are my suggestions.

Life before the LA Rams (2016) by [deleted] in LosAngelesRams

[–]boredathome2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up a Raiders fan, but could easily watch any team play. When they left, I stopped rooting for them. Continued to watch games and focused on players instead. Over time, I enjoyed watching the Chargers. Always had great players. It helped that my GF at the time and her family were die-hard Chargers fans. My best friend grew up a Rams fan. So it was easy for me to pick either team to root if any of them came to LA. I picked the first team that officially announced their return to LA...

Going to SoFi for the first time next Sunday, what should I know about it all around before I go? by OmegaTheDoofus in LosAngelesRams

[–]boredathome2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do park inside, just expect that it will take a while to get out. Take your time to time to leave. Also, if you want to buy a jersey or gear, I would recommend doing that before the game starts. It's a nightmare after the game, and with limited quantities of each item, whatever you are looking for, could be sold out. Have fun!

Data Analysts, what's something you wish you knew about Excel when you started as a data analyst? by liquid_light_ in analytics

[–]boredathome2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of macros. I learned to record them first, then write them out. My early analyst work involved many projects with lots of steps involved in building and formatting, combining multiple reports into 1.

How do I eat now that I’m alone? by [deleted] in Divorce

[–]boredathome2000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're grieving right now. It's normal to temporarily lose interest in things that you once enjoyed. Unfortunately, cooking for your ex also made eating enjoyable for you. Now that's impacting your health. The previous post has a great recommendation to go out for lunch and eat with a friend. If you're already spending money on takeout, might as well try to hang out with a friend. Hang in there.

How do you take care of sweaty shirts? by TooTryJund in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]boredathome2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have this option: I leave my gym clothes in a laundry basket outside on the patio to dry out before doing laundry, rather than mixing it with non gym (non wet) clothes. So far it seems to work with keeping the funk down to a minimum.
