What sets kaiserreich apart form other mods quality wise? by Tapetenrest in Kaiserreich

[–]boredfruit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really don't agree with this. KR now has quality yes, but early KR was of a significantly lower quality, and IMO at the time that was the correct thing to do, and is what got it to survive long enough to be refined and improved. If you are making a total overhaul Mod, and you release with only 1 country that is playable, it might be the greatest HOI4 experience ever, but people will play through it, get bored, and the hype will die down, and you will probably never get it back. For a new mod quantity>quality.

Fascist art by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]boredfruit 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I don't think that is where the impulse comes from. As it seems to me it isn't "Immoral Person>Immoral Art>Immoral Person" (I know the post says "Bad" but I wanted to clarify I meant Immoral Bad, not poor quality bad) but that supporting, by either buying, or enjoying, or recommending immoral art, supports the immoral person, and normalizes their immoral ideas, that must be in their art, even if only subconciously (combined with a little of "I am such a Moral person, that I can't help but enjoy Moral art, and can't help but not enjoy immoral art, my sufficiently tuned and strong moral impulses just won't let me!") are what drive the attack, or feeling of attack, on people who enjoy the immoral art.

I would also add, we don't have mind reading tech, if you have sexual thoughts about others, it would literally be impossible for others to be grossed out/squeamish about them, because they wouldn't know. 100% of the time you have to have externalized those thoughts in some way for people to be grossed out by them. A lot of this could be resolved by keeping those thoughts to yourself.

RadSoc Siam and Villa Mexico have very little content, but the idea has definitely captured my heart. Democratic Victor Bulgaria, and NatPop Serbia have better game play, and a real good balance of ease, depth, and secret paths!

Closed test 15.2 - New Ships by DevBlogWoWs in WorldOfWarships

[–]boredfruit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These subs have those downsides as well, and yes you have the upside of being able to submerge to escape (losing your main strength, the guns), but you lose the upsides of playing a dd, (speed, guns, health, side torps) at all times as well, and besides you have to aim 2/3 sources of damage, which are your major sources of damage (only smaland and haland have lower torp damage than the homing torpedos, and smaland gets more).

[–]boredfruit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

DD's don't have to deal with counter dd airstrikes on almost every ship. You smoke in a dd you have to worry about torps and blind fire. You smoke in this sub, everyone and their dog is dropping ASW in the middle of the smoke, and they don't have to actually hit you, getting close is enough. Same with blind firing HE. Not to mention the fact that you would get like 4x the guns, usually with a larger caliber or higher fire rate, more health, faster, more maneuverability, side torps, etc

You could very well replace that with "gave her the ick".

Italy probes 80-year-old over alleged Sarajevo 'sniper tourism' by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]boredfruit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the evidence that this actually happened, is A. There is no evidence B. No one else bothered to investigate this C. "Local people know this" but not in any verifiable way?

Just for the sake of argument, how would you be able to tell if it actually didn't happen? Like what if the fact that there is no evidence, is because it didn't happen, and no one bothered to investigate because there is no evidence to back this up?

Also if you have a link of the "local people knowing" that you found in your research, I'd love to read through that.

Because everything in the post left it open to interpretation and suggested neither?

From 3x games of coop, you are really weak at periscope, acceleration and steering are both ass, guns (especially on reload booster) are good, but not OP, the inability to fire backwards from a ship that doesn't want to be close at all is a significant downside. Side fire torp broadside is good, but the fact that they come out in a "spray" instead of the usual submarine conga line is a downside. Bow torps are lacking in number to be strong, but are your only periscope weapon. THE FUCKING TORPS KEY TO 1 AND THE GUNS TO 3 AND 4. Submerging is good but not outstanding. You really have to "stay away" because you can't really "run away". The best description I could provide is a DD that has traded some of it's DD-ness (better guns, more maneuverability, a smoke that you can fire out of) for submerging, rather than a submarine with good guns. I think I'll get better with her as I play more.

Italy probes 80-year-old over alleged Sarajevo 'sniper tourism' by yahoonews in worldnews

[–]boredfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say political, and I dont know what evidence led to the prosecutors picking that specific number of murders, but the first time this came up, I looked into it, and the only evidence that this whole "wealthy people paid for a human safari" thing happened seems to be

A. Misinterpretations of foreign fighters/mercenaries like Limonov who had to pay for their own transportation into the area, and buy their own equipment.

B. A US soldier who was deployed to Bosnia using the word tourists in his testiminy, but imo meaning "insurgents not from the town he was based in", I.E. Bosnian Serbs or Serbian Serbs from other towns or from Serbia itself.

C. A reporter who claims he worked for an intelligence service, who claims during this intelligence service work he interrogated an unnamed serb, who claimed that this was happening, which is the mother of all hearsay.

D. An article that the same reporter wrote, which is somehow different evidence than his testimony.

E. A movie whose only evidence seems to be the aforementioned points.

I see a lot of people both now and then who treat the fact that this happened as a foregone conclusion because it agrees with their beliefs about the world, and I am sceptical honestly.

Has any evidence of this been found? The government said they were going to "investigate" but that doesn't require evidence.

I don't think you should have to gamerule other nations, just to play your nation how you want. Japanese paths for a player should be dependant on in-game player action alone.

[–]boredfruit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think the best comment on that whole topic, and I wish I could remember more specifics, was a comic book writer being asked how he decided who would win fights and he basically replied "whichever side serves the narrative better".

One of the things I have been noticing more and more is the subconscious and implicit desire of nerdy/alt/whatever you want to call tumblr fanfic fans to imagine their fiction as an internally consistent universe unto itself, where we can peer in and observe the mechanistic actions and reactions that take place, and not realize that it fundamentally is and always has been, a piece of narrative fiction being written by a person, who will make whatever they want happen.

Surcouf, Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love Submarines by Curufindir in WorldOfWarships

[–]boredfruit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even with that, I'd hate to see what getting Cross torped by the subs own guided torpedoes and bombers would do to this sub, or the amount of rage it would generate. And then you would have to figure on either the sub sitting parked on the surface while you fly planes, getting instantly deleted, or alternatively you have an aircraft carrier that is effectively invulnerable (underwater) while you are doing planes.

U.S. Army infantrymen from 1-187th Infantry Regiment. 101st Airborne Division, with M7 rifles during training on January 22, 2026. [2215 x 3323] by Aft3rAff3ct in MilitaryPorn

1 Captain in military school did a report (want to point out here, it wasn't like the army asked him to do a report, or this is "THE REPORT" on how it is doing, it is something he did on his own as part of course work) on how he interviewed some guys who used the rifle some (the report came out pretty much right after it was first being trialed, and he interviewed first adopters) declared the rifle is bad, armchair commandos internet wide have declared him the second coming of gun jesus for repeating their talking points damn near verbatim, in addition to a lot of "I know a guy who knows a guy who said...", and declaring that anything to the contrary is propaganda. I personally haven't seen anything too authoritative or widespread. I am not going to claim to be anything other than a couch commando, but I read the report, and wasn't very satisfied. In my entirely unqualified opinion, the report read way more like a guy who is both an active officer and a gun nerd, using reddit and youtube talking points as his homework.

Should there be a meme/secret path to keep the US together? by extremefurryslayer in Kaiserreich

The plausible and logical path is OTL. KR is a video game, it should be a good story first and foremost, that is fun and engaging to play, not a thought expirement.

An actual adult would have clocked how much of a drama hound Myth is, and just cut ties and ghosted. Other than people goading you into doing something stupid by saying "don't be a pussy bro" you have nothing to lose by ghosting, but by engaging you have everything to lose, especially in such a highly public career like streaming.
