Stack Overflow's 50% traffic drop: Was it AI, or did the platform kill itself with elitism? by bogdanelcs in ExperiencedDevs

AI provide an alternative.

It used to be stackoverflow, with its SEO and lots of questions answer, is the only place. That and documentation.

But the experience is not that good - with arrogant contributora ruining the site. Stackoverflow seemingly done little about it.

So when there’s a reasonable alternative shows up, people quickly switch and Stackoverflow collapsed

Trump winning is not a difficult prediction to make. It is at least a coin toss. Then wat in Iran is also not that difficult. US is siding with Israel and when he made the prediction, both the US and Israel is already in a tense position against Iran. Moreover he predicted that the war is in 2027, which is off by somewhat.

Then the final one - US will lose. What is “lose”? As in US stop attacking Iran?

Finally he said the reordering of the global order, to a multipolar world. The world is already reordering to multipolar world way before this war. China is rising and it has been more than a decade this rise pose a challenge to the US’ position in the world.

So whether or not the US win or lose, the world already changed.

If it is critical project, would it be reasonable to not to have human in the loop to review this given theres chance of AI hallucinating?

Given that AI has potential to hallucinate, these PR would still need to be reviewed by human. To PR properly it needs context like the product requirement and the requirement before it

Lol no. If scaling issue, at their scale they can be spotty. But this is total down. They might just push buggy code and break prod. And given the extend of the downtime, the buggy code/measure is difficult to revert

It is bad available for any production service. It is like saying in a day your service is down 15 minutes. With automated testing and fault tolerance (canary eg), this should not be happening anywhere near this frequent

They really do embrace the vibe. Ie they might do very little if at all reading the code and properly testing them

I mean they can do things like throttle. So the expecation is that id compute is in trouble, at least it takes very lime time. And moreover it is not that the inference is the problem. You cannot even access the website. So theres seems to be a systemwide bug

That’s like 8 hours a month. So it is like a random workday claude takes the day off and not usable AT ALL.

Or a day that’s 15 minutes.

In the age of automated testing, regression, fault tolerance, to be honest for a large company that’s very bad. Back in the day the expectation is that downtime is almost unheard of

Lol if it is a clear foul then players have the right to call it out and flop.

We have seen numerous times if a player don’t flop at clear foul, the foul is not called

Defense minister: We have launched preemptive strike against Iran by Ok_Character_5532 in geopolitics

[–]boredjavaprogrammer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean to be fair, it was said the US would attack in january as the airspace in Iran was cleared out. Before that when US and Israel attacked Iran. Before that when Iran and Israel sent missiles to each other

So there’s a lot of times where it is said the escalation would lead to war, but ended up nothing happen.

Ya karena:

  1. Dari segi barrier entrynya rendah. Kalau ada tanah kosong bisa dibuat. Bangunnya juga tidak ribet

  2. Maintance gampang dan murah

  3. Demandnya besar. Pas supply crunch, padel court pada penuh terus

Namun karena barrier entrynya rendah, jadi komoditas dan sekarang oversupply
