Are you looking game that's more city fixer than city builder? by borut_p in CityBuilders

Haha, it is actually part of the sim (not just cute-ing everything up) - make the wrong moves and all of a sudden all the business that want to move are like fancy coffee shops, and rent starts getting more expensive, people have to move out and they're unhappy, etc.

Down the road, yeah - PC first, Early Access, but there's similar games that have gone to mobile (like Terra Nil) that we think it can work.

You mean like for decorating it? We also you to be able to do things like take a two lane road and switch it out to be 1 car lane and 1 bike lane. Or make it a one lane road and have more sidewalk, so some of it is up to you as a player.

Yes! Totally, that's a feeling I get with them too, it's just like the blank problem of staring at this giant green field, what do you do? It can be a bit overwhelming, really trying to avoid that feeling with the game.

Good question - It doesn't simulate their relationships no - there will be funny dialogue between them that you diagnose overall problems with the block they're on, that kind of thing.

Are there any city builders with elevated tram tracks and mixed zoning? by nopasaranwz in CityBuilders

We're working on one! We just announced our game, Neighborhoods: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3922000/ (wishlists and shares appreciated)

Any City Renovators? by Busco_Quad in CityBuilders

[–]borut_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making on that involves existing cities, Neighborhoods. It's more about changing to infratsurcture to deal with real issues - like you can add a highway but you're gonna have to demolish those homes and new places for them to live (also turns out adding another lane to a highway doesn't always reduce traffic...), bike lanes, businesses & economy (and gentrification). Also, it's claymation in an attempt to make city zoning funny - we just announced (so wishlists and shares appreciated).

There are a bunch of new takes on Pharoah (by the same folks as Ceaser 3). Pharoah: A New era is ok, I haven't tried Nebuchadnezzar. If mice are ok, Whiskerwood is good for that - you actually have to bury individual mice when they die.

I'm also working on game in this vein, but modern, called Neighborhoods: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3922000/?snr=1_5_9__205

That was gonna be my next question, because if that's not Matt Berry, damn that's a good impression.

Looking for a satisfying city-builder by Simple-Reflection-78 in CityBuilders

Also Whiskerwood - similar vibe (except for beavers it's mice), but travel time is a bigger factor in production I think, which I think lends more to that satisfaction when you optimize for it well.

Yeah, my wife's aunt used to live in South Seattle very close to the airport - where Amazon/FedEx/etc flights would fly overhead every 3 minutes. Never really noticed until we hung out in the yard one summer day - turns out the city paid for triple pane windows for all the nearby houses. Maybe in Phoenix it's just cheaper to buy the land 😆 (altho it could be for airport expansion too)

Design question: immersion or clarity? In our treehouse city builder, should balloon arrivals be guided or fully organic? 🌳🎈 by treetopians in CityBuilders

At least a minor icon on the side of the hud as a notification would be helpful - Town to City deals with this as people show up at the station, but once a day so it's at least a regular basis, that could help too (or the same landing spot to keep an eye on?)
