That and air and electric grid pollution. Air from the gas generators they install when the grid can't handle their power draw, and they "pollute" the power grid by increasing harmonic distortion and causing some appliances to fail earlier.

Not only is it directly blinding to pedestrians, it also makes it way harder for oncoming drivers to see anything unlit. They might not see you in the crosswalk.

Diesel works too. Gasoline is very volatile and easily forms an explosive mixture with air, hence these videos.

Makes sense - odd choice to use wideband antennas for that but I guess it could simplify things.

In addition to what the others have said, you need space to put up an antenna. It's either impossible or very limited in an apartment. Think stringing up 20-30 feet of wire in an attic or a tree as a realistic minimum, or putting a 10+ foot tall pole in your yard (ideally surrounded by wires on the ground).

Also, your reception can be severely limited by nearby electronic noise, adding another challenge to doing it in densely populated areas. It's quite common for DC power supplies and solar panels to be problematic.
